Re: Glacier Gardens Eagles, Juneau Alaska ~ 2018 Season
Is anyone on this forum that can answer a question for me: is there any way that a superimposed nest clock can be added to the cam view. It would be very helpful fo be able to rollback to catch what’s happened by looking for a specific time event. Who can I contact about this? All other nests have this.

Kitcat, your scaps are much appreciated. My timing is off and I don't always catch them on the nest or getting food deliveries. I especially like the ones with the traffic jams. Everyone seems to want to be in the same spot on the nest.
If no one knows who to ask about the nest can you might try going to the Glacier Gardens web site and contacting them. I noticed that the camera does weird things when it is getting light out in the morning. It acts like there should be an infrared light for night that isn't working.

There are some questions I am planning to ask the owners at GG, and the time capability on the cam feed is one of them. I will contact Tina this evening. We should be prepared to make a donation which I am more than willing to do. I know all these tech things cost a lot of money.

Thanks jwin. My timing is off a little too,so have to rely on the dvr.
Sassyk, that would be great if you can ask about the time. I would be more than willing to make a donation too.

8/29/18 - Morning delivery by adult. (red dot = fish)
GG2 flies to the nest to claim the fish! Adult leaves the nest.
GG3 flies to the nest while GG2 mantles the fish!

I sent an email to Tina at Glacier Gardens regarding the possibility of providing a time stamp on the live streaming video feed and infra-red night vision. She has replied today:
"Thank you for your suggestions and have passed them along to the owners, we have the eagle cam streaming in our visitors center so our guest can enjoy the live feed, the time stamp seems to take away from the picture itself. We do want everyone to enjoy the live feed sorry if it inconvenient. Because we are located in a residential area and want to have as little impact on the Eagle's themselves a night light is not something we will add."

Thanks sassyk for trying. I appreciate their concerns but not quite sure how the time stamp detracts from a picture but definitely their call. Also I thought IR lighting was invisible so as not to interfere with the eagles. Oh well, each nest is different.

Yes, thanks Sassyk, it was worth the asking. And I agree, Kitcat, I also thought the light was invisible to the eagles.Kitcat11848 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 8:07 pmThanks sassyk for trying. That doesn't affect the cuteness of the GGs though. These two get along so well together, even when they are competing for food.

Nice feeding this morning. I don't know how they do it but the GGs look more and more grown up every time I see them.

I also thought the IR night light wasn't visible to the eagles but perhaps she means the light would be shining around the nest site and disturbing the neighbours? Also the time stamp on other live feeds takes up very little space in the corner so I don't see why it would make a difference. However, we are fortunate to be able to watch this nest and for that I thank the owners at Glacier Gardens for providing us with this wonderful opportunity to watch the eagles raising their eaglets. This has indeed been a successful nest this season and I wish the eaglets well in their travels and lessons in hunting for their own food. Hopefully the owners at the gardens will post a final comment before shutting off the cam for the season.

Thanks sassyk for your thoughts. You are so right, this has been a very successful nest this year and I too thank Glacier Gardens for providing us with this window to watch these magnificient wild birds; and this area is absolutely gorgeous. Since the eaglets and a parent are still coming to the nest, I hope they will keep the cam on for a while.
