Awesome! Loki knows where to find salmon. I read that the Queets River was closed to salmon fishing in early February due to expected lower returns. This Salmon River appears to be a tributary to the lower Queets. Glad to know temps are above freezing.

Thank you for all the updates!

Thank you for the update! Very interesting that Loki was hanging out around the Wilcox Farms - note all the hen houses, etc.
She's also very close to the Nisqually River.
Be safe Loki :rh:

There have been more downloads on Loki's tracking map, but I don't know how to attach time links. Here is the latest map for March 1st. Since prior post Loki went southwest a bit. She flew to Tenino, but now has returned very close to Nisqually River. It looks like she has spent more time in vicinity of hen houses? forest, creeks and river, lakes and ponds, rural with some business and residential areas.

Great to see you here, Aigle Armour - thanks for posting!

And thanks for the update, Lynne! I did send an email to Wilcox Farm to let them know they had a famous eagle in the area - but didn't hear back.

Here's the map view version of what you posted, Lynne, with "terrain" turned on.
20210303_006.jpg

You can get the date stamp to appear by clicking on the round circle/dot at the end of the track - and you can also see when she was at other places by moving the mouse over the track and clicking when it changes to a pointing finger - that will make a green dot at an upload point near where you clicked, and you can then click on that dot to see when she was there (though I still am not sure what time zone the software shows).

This is looking a little closer at where she was earlier and where she was on the 1st, with a marker showing Wilcox Farms. Not knowing the area, I have no idea how much land they have for their chickens to range - but at least it appears that Loki hasn't been sitting on the roof of their primary building!

The next two posts are out of sequence - and I don't think anyone will mind once you see them!

David Hancock sent these to us to post. They were taken by Daniel Donnecke, and are used with permission, all rights reserved - and I haven't talked to David to find out how he managed to do this - but these are pictures of Loki from February 8, 2021, taken when she was off Victoria while flying south to Washington State. The pictures all click bigger.

It is so good to see Loki looking so strong and beautiful and confident! Thank you, Daniel!

Loki hatched on April 6 - so she was about 10 months old then (and almost 11 months old now!).

And her parents Sur and Res have two new eggs, laid February 24 and 27 - so likely to hatch in early April if all goes well. You can follow this year's family here - viewtopic.php?f=114&t=505

Loki keeps on keeping on! As of March 9 10:00am she was in Oregon. She crossed the mighty Columbia not far from the mouth. I recommend exploring the tracking map.

Thanks for posting, Lynne - amazing that she's been up to Alaska and is now all the way down to northern Oregon!

I know we sometimes have eagles from the Channel Islands off the coast of California visit BC - I wonder if she is thinking of visiting them!

Loki is back in Washington! Well, at least on the WA side of the Columbia River. She appears to be heading east. At this point she is west of Longview/Kelso.
The adventure continues

Trees, some farms, rural highway and the Newhalen River are parts of her present location.

Wow - she sure is a busy young eagle! Thanks so much for the updates, Lynne - it is such fun to see where she is going - and I'm so happy that her tracker is working in the US! I heard that at least some of the trackers were supposed to get some sort of update so they could connect to both Canadian and US cell towers - and happily this appears to be one of the ones that's doing that!

March 24 at 200pm - Loki was back to an area where she had been 2 weeks ago - now just west of Lake Quinault.
Earlier she was a little south, right by the Quinault River at 8:15am and 1100am
