Thanks for posting Judy. It’s so interesting to follow Loki’s travels. Glad her tracker is still posting.

Loki checked in yesterday, and she's moved further north again.

Looking in a bit closer - it mostly looks as if there's not a whole lot to see around there, at least from a human perspective. There's presumably something of interest to her, since she stopped and is doing some exploring.

Maybe Loki found a place to hunker down in colder weather with fresh snow?

That is a good thought, Lynne - according to the weather forecast on the internet, it's 41F/5C in Clearwater, Washington, which is close to where Loki is - and there's rain forecast there for the next week or so, but not getting below freezing at any point. There's quite a bit of snow in the nest at Surrey right now.

Loki has checked in, and appears to be heading towards the coast:

Looking a little closer, you can see the little lines where she was the last time she checked in, before heading west.

Same are in satellite view.

Zooming in closer - it looks as if she's discovered the Salmon River!

No idea if there are salmon there now - but maybe?

Here's the same area in map view. (These all click bigger)

And - you can go to the map here - https://hancockwildlife.org/our-project ... ge/beta04/ - and zoom in and scroll around and see what else there might be to find around here!

Awesome! Loki knows where to find salmon. I read that the Queets River was closed to salmon fishing in early February due to expected lower returns. This Salmon River appears to be a tributary to the lower Queets. Glad to know temps are above freezing.

Thank you for all the updates!

Thank you for the update! Very interesting that Loki was hanging out around the Wilcox Farms - note all the hen houses, etc.
She's also very close to the Nisqually River.
Be safe Loki :rh:

There have been more downloads on Loki's tracking map, but I don't know how to attach time links. Here is the latest map for March 1st. Since prior post Loki went southwest a bit. She flew to Tenino, but now has returned very close to Nisqually River. It looks like she has spent more time in vicinity of hen houses? forest, creeks and river, lakes and ponds, rural with some business and residential areas.

Great to see you here, Aigle Armour - thanks for posting!

And thanks for the update, Lynne! I did send an email to Wilcox Farm to let them know they had a famous eagle in the area - but didn't hear back.

Here's the map view version of what you posted, Lynne, with "terrain" turned on.
20210303_006.jpg

You can get the date stamp to appear by clicking on the round circle/dot at the end of the track - and you can also see when she was at other places by moving the mouse over the track and clicking when it changes to a pointing finger - that will make a green dot at an upload point near where you clicked, and you can then click on that dot to see when she was there (though I still am not sure what time zone the software shows).

This is looking a little closer at where she was earlier and where she was on the 1st, with a marker showing Wilcox Farms. Not knowing the area, I have no idea how much land they have for their chickens to range - but at least it appears that Loki hasn't been sitting on the roof of their primary building!

The next two posts are out of sequence - and I don't think anyone will mind once you see them!

David Hancock sent these to us to post. They were taken by Daniel Donnecke, and are used with permission, all rights reserved - and I haven't talked to David to find out how he managed to do this - but these are pictures of Loki from February 8, 2021, taken when she was off Victoria while flying south to Washington State. The pictures all click bigger.
