Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
1:54 pm at Delta 2, the west and east embedded cams went offline and reverted to 8:43 am 9/21/20. The zoomer cams were functioning though as was just logging off from being on.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
My husband took a message from Ken while I was out for a walk - Ken is rebuilding his server to see if that will fix the problems we're having with the other embedded cams. Ken is very good at what he does, and I know he does not like being stymied - but so far we haven't been having much luck and have no clue why.
Stay tuned, and please keep your fingers crossed.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Ken has the Delta 2 cams back up; the rest are still not communicating correctly. He's going to take a well deserved break, and continue working on this in the morning.
Good night, everyone. Stay safe.
Note to zoomers - it's OK to go in and look around and take pictures from the cams using the direct access/zoomer links, but please don't reboot the cams and please leave them in a safe spot when you're done. I had some issues with Surrey South (tried to go to a preset and got a black screen) - but I think that may be because Ken and I were both in at the same time, and that was a bigger strain than the bandwidth could handle; once Ken logged out, the cam behaved normally (after a couple of minutes delay).

1:35pm.....Something not right about the embedded cams at Delta2. Red line to scroll at the bottom must be manually moved to the right.......then when you do, the streaming ends and videos come on instead. At first it looked like the cams were 15 minutes or more behind but it looks more serious than that. Now I see they are both offline.
No current streaming.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Last time I talked to Ken, he'd managed to get the Delta embedded cams back up, but they didn't stay. He is very frustrated right about now, and off to do more research. At Ken's suggestion I reached out to Peter from WildEarth - and Peter said he hadn't been forced to the new software yet, and he was very happy not to be using it because everything he'd heard was pretty awful. Which was supportive of what we're seeing, but not useful.Jean wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:37 pm1:35pm.....Something not right about the embedded cams at Delta2. I have a few things I need to do first, but then plan to try to do some more research on the YouTube support site. We did find one thing that worked for a while - but then it stopped working. Very annoying.

12:19pm........At Delta2..........embedded cams still down but I noticed this on the zoomer cams.............date and time on the upper left has changed to very small on the E cam. And the E cam viewing window takes up most of the box whereas the W cam window does not.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
The settings for stream 1 at Delta 2 East are much higher than we usually have them (stream 1 is the window the zoomers see); I'm not sure if Ken did that intentionally and I'm afraid I am not going to be able to follow up on that until tomorrow - sorry.Jean wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 12:20 pm12:19pm........At Delta2..........embedded cams still down but I noticed this on the zoomer cams.............date and time on the upper left has changed to very small on the E cam. I did post on my Facebook page asking if anyone had suggestions (I have some techie friends) - there have been some replies, and I'll look at that tomorrow as well.
Good night, everyone.
PS - thanks for the note about the other cams using YouTube, Bev - I never can think of any to check when I need them.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Good Morning All! I just wanted to add this here about the resolution on the Delta 2 W Embedded cam. Judy has already responded to this as I had also posted on the Delta thread. The highest resolution on the W Embedded cam is 720p.....previously it was at 1080p. But the good news is that the W Embedded cam is up so that others can watch the nest if they want to and we can use the rollback to check to see if any visitors come to the nest.

Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Ken gave me permission to change the settings for Stream 1, which is what is sent to the window the zoomers use - so now E zoomer is back to normal.
At this point Ken is basically tweaking the settings on each cam until he can get the embedded version streaming. He also thinks YouTube may be fixing some of the issues. Unfortunately this will take some time.
It's now about 4:30 pm, and both Delta embedded cams are streaming, and Harrison South embedded is streaming. White Rock CU was streaming for a while, but is now stuck with a spinning circle at 11:30 pm.

Good Afternoon all! Looks like all the HWF embedded cams are down except for the Surrey S cam. I had just checked on Delta cams about 10 minutes ago and they were up but now are both down.
Edit: The Surrey S Cam has only been up for about 7 minutes so I take it that it was down as well at some point.

Surrey North and South are both up now (4:10 pm) - so maybe Ken is trying different combinations?SueB wrote: ↑Sun Sep 27, 2020 3:22 pmGood Afternoon all! Re: Report Cams Down and Forum Errors
Thanks, Darlene. The only embedded cam currently streaming is Surrey Reserve South; North was streaming for over 12 hours, but is now stuck at 10:16 am with a spinning circle, and the other embedded cams are all offline.
When I spoke to Ken this weekend, he was planning to go to White Rock today to see if there's something going on with the equipment there - I can log into all three cams, but he's having trouble with the North cam - and he can't get them to go successfully to YouTube.
The Delta cams had been doing quite well - not sure why they went down, but I have sent him a message and will try to call him for an update later today.
I'm continuing to try to plow through the tutorials for YouTube and the manuals for the cams and for the Wowza software to see if I can find where something needs updating, but so far I haven't had much luck with that. Keeping fingers crossed that we can somehow get this resolved soon.

I think Ken is back from White Rock. The Surrey Reserve embedded cams were offline briefly, and now both are streaming (although the North cam stream is choppy - which is likely either an issue with the cam or with the internet connection; we're hoping it's the internet because there's at least a chance we can fix that).
He was planning to try to restart at least some of the other streams - so I'm hoping we'll be seeing a few more cams come online soon.

I noticed that the Delta 2 E Embedded Cam had come back online at 5:29 pm but was only on for about 7 minutes or so, but now back offline. Just thought I would mention it in case it was important for Ken to know that.
