Picture sent yesterday from my son in Chicago.
The annual tradition of dying the Chicago River green in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
My son works on the 80th floor of one of those tall buildings. :w00t:
In case you didn't know, my favorite color is
GREEN.

Good morning, Everybody,

Suemac I'm glad Reese's foot is ok, how on earth did that happen? And thanks for that quote - we should say that to ourselves every single day. Thanks to you both for the great s'caps and to lovinnature and everyone who posts each day with the nest news here and at SWFEC. Later, 'gators.

Thanks, LP. I think I corrected my post.

I was lucky to catch these from the zoomie over at Mississippi River Flyway cam. First, a closeup of what I think is a juvenile bald Eagle ( with possibly a friend behind to the right) and then it pans out to show how vast the river is as it melts.

Good morning everyone !
8 Days until Spring 🌼

Hello all you peepers.
Yes I got the snow Friday. But not as much as they said. And on this lovely Sunday morning it is snowing again. 😕
We are having our town's, annual St. Patrick's Day parade in the snow.

Sue, Thank you for the I Am... I said it Loud and Proud !
It is funny now, about Reese's foot. So glad it wasn't a real medical issue. It was just a test. And you obviously failed. :mihihi:
The green water is so pretty. Makes me woozy, just to think your son is up that high in the building.
I like my feet as close to terra firma as possible.

LazyParrot, Maybe the Peregrine was looking for food ? Falcons can process four types of light while humans can only process three.
This means that the falcon has a very good night vision.

How fast can raptors see?
Peregrine falcon has the fastest vision. Falcons see prey at speed of Formula 1 car :w00t:
https://journals.biologists.com/jeb/art ... aptors-see
(The Journal of Experimental Biology, 2020; Simon Potier, Margaux Lieuvin, Michael Pfaff, Almut Kelber ).
If you read down to the bottom of the page, (or not, just scroll) under discussion, See Table #3.
It has many birds listed but I could not find anything on Eagle's FFF.

Today is also...
National Girl Scout Day.
Girl Scouting began in the United States, March 12, 1912.
I was a girl scout, many, many, moons ago. My motto today still is “Be Prepared”

Thanks you all again, for indulging me in my tangents.

Good morning all!
I have been watching the Great Spirit Bluff falcons for a few years. The ledge is where they often eat and prep prey when they have eyas in the box. The head bobbing is triangulation in order to see depth better because of their eye placement; owls do it too. Neither of the 2 adults who have recently been using the box are banded. They lost a mom a couple years ago too. :( Now, Zoey who has been Newman's mate the last couple years has not been seen this year. A new female, Savanna has been seen mating with Newman and defending the territory. Savanna is banded. Newman has very intense yellow/orange feet that help to ID him.

Hi Anuli's mom---Thanks for that wealth of information. I was wondering about the banded one. Please come back and teach us more about the falcons in general and :) particularly the ones at the GSB.

Good morning all. Happy Monday
7 days until Spring ! 🌼

I seen a quick story, on the news. A giant seaweed bloom is heading for Florida. They did not say where it was coming from, or where in Florida it was heading. News said is twice as wide as the U.S. ?
Google helped me find more info.
"A sargassum bloom, around 5,000 miles wide, twice the width of the United States, and is believed to be the largest in history".
https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/giant ... im-florida

Today is ...
National Good Samaritan Day.

National Napping Day. (it recognizes our need, the day following, return of daylight saving time). :offtobed:

Good morning bobble heads. Happy Tuesday.
6 days until Spring 🌼

Hope you all are doing well.

Today is ...
National Potato Chip Day.
Celebrate America’s #1 snack food. Chips have been around since 1853. They were first called “Saratoga Chips.”
(others say they date back even earlier to 1845) ?

* this one's for you Sue :) . The Monarchs are migrating now. That's why the are in your s'caps lately.

National Learn About Butterflies Day.
There are more than 20,000 types of butterflies worldwide.
Many butterflies migrate over long distances. Particularly famous migrations are those of the Monarch butterfly from Mexico to the northern USA and southern Canada, a distance of about 2500 to 3000 miles.
So plant some wild flowers so they have something to eat on their long migration.

That's all I got today folks.
HAGR8D everyone !
