Carol--Hi. I think it was you that asked a while back about Circadas in Florida--- We do have them but they happen about every year --if my memory serves me right. However, I have never seen huge swarms---mostly just hear them "singing" in the trees. I always enjoy their songs. They even "sang" at my aunt's grave-side service-- sounded like angels in heaven. :)

Yes, i LazyParrot, it was me that asked. I see a few cicadas every year & they're not a bother.
But when it's a "swarm" year, they can really do some damage to young trees and plants.
The so-called singing is constant, daily for 2 weeks or more...I read it's the males doing the singing.

What a wonderful experience, Lazy Parrot. A beautiful memory.
Carol, we have them, circada also. Don't know if there will be more/less than usual.
Around here they are preparing for our Solar Eclipse on April 8th.
In 2017 we had one---it got QUIET when it was the darkest--really an eerie feeling---

The storms moved through here on Friday. We just got wind--blew out a couple of limbs on the tree across the street.
My yard ok.
All the damages went north of us, or south of us. Whew.

LazyParrot, what a day to have to work on cleaning out your garage :( ...you'd probably want to sit and keep tabs on e23.

Sunnybird, I'm glad the storms went around you...those storms were wicked 😕
This year's solar eclipse for us will be a total one, so it'll get really dark, unlike the the one in 2017 that was a partial eclipse. It'll be interesting.
The cicadas that we both had back in 2017 weren't the 13 or 17 year ones, so we shouldn't have too many this year :thumlft:
(hmm, I'm not sure. Maybe you will have more :chin: )

Found this map of the cicada broods...

Sunnybird, you captured a beautiful blue morning pic! :thumlft:
Oh, it's cold here, too...it's 3pm now & it's 30 degrees, windy, and snow flurries are falling❄

e23 is SO active now, and flying here & there...trying to keep updated with the cam activity, while trying to get s'caps, too, is hard :fonz:

Sorry everybody is so cold. Here's a little something to take your mind off of being shut in house.

How wonderful!
E23 fledged on my birthday!
I just realized this....

E9 came close on March 14, 2017 with his "fludge" fledge.
He ran "wskrsnwings" all over the pasture that day. :D
She has a great video of that day.
Now I cannot find it

Awfully wet at the nest site this Friday. E23 is soaked. Maybe Kermit the frog can cheer everyone up. :luck:
