MIA 2023

MIA 02-15-2023. Notre Dame, Leef at St. Patrick's County Park Indiana.
Bald Eagle Mom ND

The Queen of Notre Dame, the Mom of at least 17 eaglets,
2015 ND1, 2016 ND2 -- 2017 ND3 or ND4 as only one fledged -- 2018 ND5, ND6 -- 2019 ND7, ND8, ND9 -- 2020 ND10, ND11, ND12 -- 2021 ND13, ND14 -- 2022 ND15, ND16, ND17.

The Dad ND's mate.

A couple of days after a new female arrived in the nest, she was very agressive with Dad even if she became less agressive day after day. Could it be her who chased Mom of the area (or worse). Nobody's knows...
The 15th of february n the morning and a part of the day Mom was there and never came back. She was in time to lay eggs, the nest was ready, with Dad they were bonding a lot and now their story seems to be over.

Like i wrote for Harriet 2 weeks ago :
After so many before you as I'm still missing :cry1: and i don't understand what happened to them,
like for Mom Hope 2017 (trio Nest after a battle), Dad Decorah 2018 without no special fact but Mom Decorah was able to raise 3 beautiful eaglets..., Mom Juliet NEFL 2018 the day after a battle, she incubated the night after and flew away the following morning and never returned, Dad Romeo NEFL 2018 just the day after the hatch of his first eaglet after that a female eagle ate the young one not totally out of the egg shell. Mom Decorah North 2018 just a couple days after the death of her 2 eaglets 2 or 3 days old (black flies infestation).
Spirit, Dad of Redding 2019 never returned from migration, Mom Victoria and Dad Nicolas never returned at Florida country after 2020, Ma Berry was chased by the actual Missy at Berry College but was seen the year after in another area :luck: , and the recent one Dad Samson from NEFL 2022 without any reason or too much intruders around. :cry1:
I never could have imagined that this time it would be your turn Harriet, Queen of the Hamlet and of all ours hearts... and you let me and so many others without voice, as i have no word, only tears. May be later.... I can't understand why it happened to you too dear Mom Notre Dame, i couldn't expect that end after the loss os Samson and Harriet this season.

Another 1 more stab wounds straight to the :rh: heart. I thought that afterwards we removed them and that there was no trace of them but in fact they continue to accumulate... :brknhrt: :brknhrt: :brknhrt:

By dint of enduring and sharing these pains, these sorrows, this sadness and all these tears with all our little feathered friends, young or old, for that matter, maybe one day I will have to withdraw completely for an indefinite period because that season has been particularly terrible despite some wonderful and happy successes.

It is possible that I scatter a little too much in the different nests or there is a real hecatomb this year in terms of the survival of the chicks. Considering what I read in the various forums, I think more for the hecatomb.

RIP 2023

At the request of GypsySoul,

1/2

03-03-2023. Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Auburndale Eagle Nest, FL. Bald Eaglet CM2 aka "Phoenix"

CM2, the second eaglet of the 2023 season, killed by its older brother CM1 for no reason.
†CM2† °~20 January 2023 - † 03 March 2023. 42 do forever.

This is what i wrote this sad day
"Just asking for Prayers even if i'm sure it's too late. 🙏CM2🙏
at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Auburndale, FL Eagle Nest Cam Live
As already many days, 🙏CM2🙏 the younger eaglet can't access the food without being attacked by the elder, CM1.

This early morning it suffered a violent and vicious attack that left it on its back and motionless.
It could even be that he could have been tasted alive by its sibling... what damage he suffers from, nobody knows but maybe this is how 🙏CM2🙏 will end its poor and young life, just food for his elder...,

I think he won't recover and no need to wait for human rescuers, now his poor helpless body is stuck against the trunk and therefore he will not fall and this will comfort those who think that you can only help those who are on the ground... No intervention here..
:brknhrt: :brknhrt: :brknhrt: "

Pics from a LadyDeeagle55's Video that is now private... Why ? i don't know...

just after the 27 mn battle, CM1 just behind Mom at the right of Mom the poor CM2 (the grey one) is down on its back, nothing moves....
2023-03-10_09h19_10.jpg
CM2 is against the trunk at 10h am, not moving any more. Mom seems to say " What ? I did nothing...."
2023-03-10_09h18_43.jpg
one hour later same place then the streaming was shut down. And now Mom asks to herself "Do you think CM1 killed him?
2023-03-10_09h19_41.jpg
the video was classified "Private"
****WARNING GRAPHIC VIDEO***
***VIEWER DISCRETION STRONGLY ADVISED***
Camp Margaritaville. Older eaglet CM1 attacks younger sibling CM2. It was a vicious attack and CM2's condition is unknown.
LadyDeeagle55 made a video of 27 minutes , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ3P6DJp7Do 27 min of brutality and cruelty, to avoid for sensitive people... Private video now. Why ?? :dunno:

The 7 March at 16h27 the streaming was back during a short while but no sign of CM2's body
i don't know what happened to him, brought away by a parent (too heavy 1 think) eaten by the family, it's a possibility or brought away by false rescuers another possibility but if it is the last one (many laws has to be re-writing...) (just my thoughts)

:cry1: :cry1: :cry1:

:brknhrt: :( :cryhanky:

What I'm sure of now, †CM2's soul is in 🙏 the hands of God, his true father 🙏. †CM2 was also very well surrounded, for his last moment, by all its †Ancestors†. RIP beautiful and precious †CM2 :cry1: :brknhrt: 🙏🙏 ::cry1: :brknhrt:

†CM2, like an Angel, unzipped its feathered down coat and its soul flew away to the Heavens where it was welcome by many of its older †siblings† and older family members. Now you are flying among the stars, marvellous †CM2. :bye 1: :luck: :rh:

†CM2, of course you also have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

†CM2; Fly high and freely and protect your sibling and your parents.
Surely you were too youngs to died but God has certainly a new and beautiful mission for you. :luck: . :rh:
Sure I don't want to be in the shoes of the one who made you leave the day when they will have to account for it... nor at the place of those who should have help you as your ordeal lasted many days.

†CM2, i hope you didn't suffer too much. Now you are a free soaring Bald Eaglet with a full crop forever and will be never alone. 😢 RIP 🙏

🙏😭💔🙏

RIP 2023

At the request of GypsySoul,
I asked GypsySoul to talk about the nest, CM2 and the Eagle family there...

2/2

03-03-2023. Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Auburndale Eagle Nest, FL. Bald Eaglet CM2 aka "Phoenix"

CM2, the second eaglet of the 2023 season, killed by its older brother CM1 for no reason.
†CM2† °~20 January 2023 - †03 March 2023. 42 do forever.

By GypsySoul

"Unfortunately, no amount of research seems to yield a lot of detailed information about this nest or the eagles that claim it, but I do have some insight...

The eagle parents at this next are unnamed but have been nesting here since at least 2011. This used to be the Cabana Club RV Resort for a short time (2021), rebranded as a Camp Margaritaville RV Resort in 2022. The owners opted to embrace the existing nest as a "resort amenity" with live cam last year, but they suffer from low bandwidth and don't stream reliably.

The parents have successfully raised young to fledge multiple times. Last year's eggs were non-viable. This year, the cams came back on on January 22, proclaiming that two eggs had hatched "just days before". No firm word on hatch dates of either of the two eaglets, but many have theorized that there may have been three eggs, therefore explaining the size difference between the two eaglets - CM1 & CM2.

This cam does not offer rewind, so many viewers were left ignorant to most of the events of this nest, unless they really committed to watching for extended periods. I did. Unlike what many have said, CM2 WAS reaching eaglet milestones and showing no signs of illness, or lack of viability. Unfortunately, he simply had a sibling who was aggressive well beyond any normal circumstance. Lack of food was not an issue as the thriving and abundant Lake Myrtle is at the base of the ~40 ft. nesting tree. Poor little CM2 even dragged large fish to his mother's feet asking for help to "unzip" them, and was only ignored. He showed surprising efforts to self-feed (unlike CM1), wise submission during unprovoked attacks, and extreme bravery when he realized he faced a "do or die" bold fight to try to get to the food - food his sibling didn't even seem to want, but wouldn't let him have... food that he never could quite get "into" because he had no help from parents.

Many felt that "mom" was the trigger of the aggression. Every time mom came to the nest, with or without food, CM1 would turn excessive attacks on CM2 - pulling at his wings, wrenching his neck, and trying to kick him out of the nest. CM2 would cling to a tiny branch, barely hanging on, only finding the courage to move when CM1 finally fell asleep. Only once - dad tried to intervene, the very last night of CM2's life. It wasn't enough. The final attack lasted 27 minutes, after which, he tried to move his battered broken body and rise again, but he never could. Then, the camera went dark. That was March 3. Camp Margaritaville confirmed his passing the next day.

Many (including myself) begged for intervention. In-nest rescues are rare, yes - but this was a good reason for one. This was not a non-viable eaglet. This was not a siblicide that aligns with any natural logic or explanation - and it makes Dale Hollow look like child's play. CM2, or "Phoenix" as I called him, wanted to be a mighty eagle... and he could have been. He should have been. If nothing else, he deserves to be remembered. His bravery was so impressive, and his wisdom was already obvious as he would sit by the moonlight and survey the land below and the sky above as all the other eagles slept - always greeting parents happily when they landed in the nest, even though he was often ignored. He probably felt quite alone, but many of us loved the little guy - and some of us will never forget him. He taught me so much.
"

Thank you so much for all your wonderful and beautiful words of prayer for CM2! I too felt just like you! I miss him ! I know he would have been a survivor and a brave eagle if not for CM1 who sought out to hurt and control him right from day one.CM2 was not given any chance to survive the nest as he would certainly have in a better situation.
RIP beautiful eagle soul !!

I am so sorry Philjo........sadness continues. For Zoe.....
We saw you grow, we watched your behavior,
not to happy but understanding dawned in time.

You flew, you are missing, we know not where,
but in the hands of God you will be held and loved....
and by us forever.

Another page turning!

2023, The tragic and deadly series continues, after the disappearances of Dad Samson 11-25-2022 (NEFL), Mom Harriet (SWFEC) 02-02-2023, Mom Notre Dame (NDLEEF) 02-15-2023...
Today it is the turn of Dad Obey at Dale Hollow 03-28-2023,
without forgetting the loss (by the force of the wind) of the nests at MNR DNR yesterday with the death of the little eaglet E8 and a few days before, the breakage of the Trio nest tree at the Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge and the loss of an unknown number of eaglets as the parents were seen feeding them a couple of day before. The ground boots found nothing in the area.

MIA 2023

MIA 03-28-2023. LTS @ 17h24. Dale Hollow Nest, Ten. Bald Eagle Dad Obey the King of Dale Hollow, Queen River's beloved mate, father at this day of 19 little DHs.

Obey, you left the nest to chase an intruder and to protect your Mate River, and your 3 younger eaglets DH17, DH18 and DH19 ... What a family... at least may be 12 are still flying somewhere, some have may be already a family and that's not the end, River is doing the better she can to make growing your last three even if today 04-03, the intruder is still around and sometime too close to the nest for her...

Through my misty eyes I saw you, Obey, surrounded by your 4 little angels. †DH3† 2017, †DH4† 2018, †DH9† 2020, †DH16† 2022. They do everything they can to help you even if they already know that a return seems impossible. With your help they will do everything to protect Mom River and your 3 eaglets, their young siblings too... it will be a nice revenge to the one who chased you away or injured you so badly if you weren't able to come back by its fault. I also see a lady who has supported you since you left, she has a huge heart that supports you... She made many videos of your whole family, she is with your little ones, MSO is her name...

Majestic Obey is the left one

:brknhrt: :( :cryhanky:

What I'm sure of now, wherever he is, Obey's soul is in 🙏 the hands of God, his true father 🙏. Obey was also very well surrounded by all its little eaglets, DH3, DH4, DH9, DH16... RIP beautiful and precious Obey in case that was Gods's choice:cry1: :brknhrt: 🙏🙏 ::cry1: :brknhrt:

In this case,
Obey, like an Angel, unzipped its feathered down coat and its soul flew away to the Heavens where it was welcome by many of it's little eaglets, its older †siblings† and older family members. Now you are flying among the stars, marvellous †Obey. :bye 1: :luck: :rh:

Obey, of course you also have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

Obey; Fly high and freely and protect all your eaglets, family and Mom River Take care of her and of your 3 last eaglets. Be careful with DH19, the younger needs more help than the two olders.
Surely these 3 were too youngs to lost you but God has certainly a new and beautiful mission for you. :luck: . :rh:

Dear Obey, i hope you didn't suffer too much. Now you are a free soaring Bald Eagle with a full crop forever and will be never alone. 😢 RIP 🙏

🙏😭💔🙏
