RIP 2022

04-28-2022. From Decorah Nest, Iowa. : Gosling G#2. less than 24h old.

In Decorah a family of geese decided to lay 6 eggs in the Mom and DM2's unused nest.
one egg seems to have a pip but then no hatchling :(
5 superb goslings hatched 04-27.
then 04-28 was the day of the big jump to follow Mom and Dad to the ground...
All 5 courageous goslings jumped down one by one, even the little last one did it
But on the ground, first only 3 joined Mom and Dad, a little bit later the youngest, helped by a human, did it.
One was missing, its little dead body was found on the ground. During its very short flight its soul had ascended to heaven.

It didn't stay with us very long but i think it deserves to stay here among us...

only 4 of these 5 goslings survived their first jump in life. :rh: RIP to the little one who missed it. :rh: :cry1:

RIP 2022

04-30-2022. From MN DNR Eagle Cam, Minnesota. : Bald Eaglet E2. 36 do.

RIP little E2
Your ordeal is over now. No more suffering and fear of savagery. During your last hours you have known tranquility and peace of mind despite the benevolent presence of the humans around you. I hope that the sacrifice of your life will allow your eldest to survive. it had nothing against you, you know, it was just trying to preserve his own life. :cry1: :rh:

You are the first one to know what happened to your brave father after he desappeared the 04-26-2022 and where he is now.

MN DNR ~ TRAGEDY! E1 Attacks E2 & Pushes Off Nest! E2 Is Rescued But Does Not Survive 💔 4.30.22

Disclaimer ~ viewer discretion advised. This video contains footage that may be upsetting to sensitive viewers.

The last several days have been very difficult for the DNR eagle family with Dad missing since Tuesday April 26th and Mom defending the nest and her eaglets from intruders. There has been a lack of food and E1's aggression rose to new heights today resulting in three brutal attacks upon E2 and ultimately pushing E2 off the nest at 20:21.
The folks at Minnesota Nongame responded immediately and found E2 on the ground and brought to the Raptor Center for evaluation. Be sure to see the two photos of E2 at the end of the video when they rescued it. Sadly, the internal injuries to E2 were so great they had to humanely euthanize the baby. This is such heartbreaking news that we have lost E2 and possibly Dad as well. My condolences go out to all the viewers who love this eagle family and nest and are grieving over this terrible loss today. Minnesota Nongame DNR has issued a statement and I will pin it to the comment section of the video. RIP sweet E2 - your suffering is over. Your bravery and strength to survive was an inspiration to all of us who loved you. Fly high on angel wings baby ~ we will never forget you. 💔 Thank you for watching!

RIP 2022

05-02-2022. From Denton Homes Nest, west of Des Moines, Iowa. : Bald Eagle Dad DH DH8, DH9 and DH10's father.

10 days after his 3 eaglets, RIP Dad DH,
Denton Homes Iowa. The male has passed away. 😔😔😔 This is the nest which lost all 3eaglets to suspected Avian Flu 😔😔😔 The female is now the sole survivor of this family and is being monitored on cam, when in view and by nest observers, ground crew local to the area.
" We are so saddened to share our great majestic Dad has passed. This is such sad and difficult news to share to our beloved nest family here along with our other nest supporters."
Live cam, with chat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1qfdTM2WXI

We were informed by a member of the team at the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, specializing in avian influenza, that Dad tested positive. He was in their care when he passed.

No pic of Dad
Just 2 of Mom taken last night as Dad was leaving her forever
She is alone in the night above and in a so big nest under so many tears which are raining on her during all the night...
Courage brave Mom!

RIP 2022

04-26-2022. From MN DNR Eagle Cam, Minnesota. Bald Eagle Dad DNR, E1 and E2's father.

Lots of intruders and a territorial dispute that certainly didn't end well for Dad DNR. :cry1:

A superb video by Lady Hawk :ty:
MN DNR ~ Tribute Remembering Dad DNR & E2 💔 If I Could Be Where You Are! 5.3.22

It has been a very sad and emotional week at the DNR eagles nest. Dad has been missing since April 26th and is presumed to be dead. Many locals have searched the area but there is no sign of him. Cases of avian bird flu are in the area but we just don't know what happened to him. On April 30th after several days of a food shortage and aggression by E1, E2 was pushed off the nest. Although E2 was rescued, the injuries sustained were too great and E2 was humanly euthanized. Mom DNR is now left to raise E1 by herself.

I will always remember Dad and E2 and have shed many tears over this great loss. He arrived as a sub adult and took to his role as mate and then provider and Dad with excitement and dedication. I remember calling him our young Jedi - as he captured all our hearts! He defended their territory and was a good provider for his offspring. This season they continued their amazing parentage with a double incubation of the eggs during inclement weather! And there was another incredible moment for the DNR family with Mom making sure that E2 was not left out in the cold so she scoops up her baby and brings it back underneath her tenderly. Now Mom is on her own raising E1 but I am sure her instincts are strong to provide for her chick and raise to fledging.

I think Dad was waiting in the clouds and when he saw E2 pass away, he scooped him up in his wings, held little E2's body against his chest and soared into the heavens forevermore. ♥ Father and son....may you both soar high and free. Thank you for watching!
