RIP 2023

05-03-2023. Dale Hollow, Tennessee. Bald Eaglet †DH18†, Mom River and †Dad Obey†'s 2nd beloved of the three 2023 eaglets. Middle loved sibling of DH17 and †DH18† before he left his elders.

†DH18†: 61 do, 2 months old. H: °03-03-2023--- †05-03-2023†.
A fishing line became tangled around the legs of †DH18† and those of DH17 which was freed without visual damage and which remained in the nest. On the other hand, the 04-26, †DH18† was rescued almost against the advice of the DHEC who did not want to help him. At least 4-6 days were already lost. This resulted in an infection that could not heal and with regret, AEF made the decision to peacefully euthanized our little †DH18† just one week after the rescue. :brknhrt: :cryhanky:

My choice of pics for DH18 is simple

IrishEyes's pic. 03-25 in the morning, with †Obey† feeding them his last days insight in the nest. DH17 is the right one, †DH18† the middle one and the tiny †DH19† is the left one.

†DH18†, of course you also have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

†DH18†; Fly high and freely and protect your sibling DH17 still but alone now in the nesst and Mom River also, Take care of every of them. If you have still some time, take a look to us too, as we will need your help too.
I hope your sibling DH17 will become a perfect Bald Eagle with your help. Don't forget also, God has certainly a new and beautiful mission for you. :luck: . :rh:

Dear †DH18†, i hope you didn't suffer too much during this last 2 weeks even if by your cries we knew it was painfull in your short life. Now you are a free soaring Bald Eaglet with a full crop forever and will be never alone. 😢 RIP 🙏

Another 1 more stab wounds straight to the :rh: heart. I thought that afterwards we removed them and that there was no trace of them but in fact they continue to accumulate... :brknhrt: :brknhrt: :brknhrt:

By dint of enduring and sharing these pains, these sorrows, this sadness and all these tears with all our little feathered friends, young or old, for that matter, maybe one day I will have to withdraw completely for an indefinite period because that season has been particularly terrible despite some wonderful and happy successes.

It is possible that I scatter a little too much in the different nests or there is a real hecatomb this year in terms of the survival of the chicks. Considering what I read in the various forums, I think more for the hecatomb.

I'm sure Harriet is reunited with the one she loved before M15, Ozzie, and all those she gave life to but who have since lost it either before they took flight or during their life as an eagle. In addition, she will always keep a protective and benevolent eye on her surviving eagles and of course for her dear, tender and wonderful last love, M15, who was able to carry out the last and important mission she entrusted to him, her last two offspring who are already ready to meet all the challenges of the Earth with their exceptional genes. Bonne Fête des Mères Your Majesty Harriet ! PJ.

06-30 Dad Newman is alone, with food and calling but no answer...

:cry1: :cry1: :cry1:

:brknhrt: :( :cryhanky:

What I'm sure of now, wherever she is, †Savanna†'s soul is in 🙏 the hands of God, his true father 🙏.
†Savanna† was also very well surrounded by all the Peregrine Falcons and Falconets which perished here the previous seasons as not far ago i calles this nest box a GHO's feeder (Great news, now the specialists are asking themselves what to do with this nestbox. I hope they will have an answer and an action done before next season.
RIP beautiful and precious †Savanna† in case that was Gods's choice :cry1: :brknhrt: 🙏🙏 😭💔
In that case, †Savanna†, you offered 4 magnific falconets to Newman who like M15 was a Super Dad and then like an Angel, you unzipped your feathered down coat and your soul flew away to the Heavens where you were ready to welcome your 2 may be 4 2023 little falconets. May be you joined to some your older and younger siblings too. and older family members.
Now you are flying among the stars, marvellous †Savannah†. :rh: 🙏

†Savanna†, of course you and your falconets also have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

†Savanna†, Fly high and freely and protect your mate Newman, alone now, and why not Thomas and Kami if they are still alive even if i have a big doubt about that. Take a look to us too, as we will need your help too.
Don't forget also, God has certainly a new and beautiful mission for you. :luck: . :rh:

Dear †Savanna†, i hope you didn't suffer too much during your last moment inside the talons of this GHO even if by your cries we knew it was painfull but i'm sure you were able to defend yourselves enought time to make the gho unable to come back to your nest a couple of weeks allowing Newman to make your falconets grow until their first fledge. During a short moment they knew the meaning of the word "free" during their short life. Now you are all part of the free soaring Peregrine falcons with a full crop forever and will never be alone. 😢 RIP 🙏

In fact the hawklet was “adopted” by a family of bald eagles. he spent 6 wks and half with the members of her new family. the 5 of july, in the morning, :rh: Tuffy2 was found dead at the foot of the oak where she spent her last night in :cry1: :brknhrt:
A necropsy will be performed.

What I'm sure of now, wherever she is, †Tuffy2†'s soul is in 🙏 the hands of God, his true father 🙏.

†Tuffy2† was also very well surrounded by all the RTHs which perished before her and as it happened during the night she was able to leave with serenity, far from all that stress caused by those too many people who invaded her playground and even tried to capture her. What a terrible end for such a young bird, no possibility to stay calm during her last day...

RIP beautiful and precious †Tuffy2† in case that was Gods's choice :cry1: :brknhrt: 🙏
In that case, †Tuffy2†, you offered us a magnific month with your dynamic life, your close interaction with Mom and Lola. It was a pleasure to see you even through Jann N's pictures.

During your last night, †Tuffy2† like an Angel, you unzipped your feathered down coat and your soul flew away to the Heavens where you were welcome, i'm sure by the little rth who share a so short time close to you in that big nest, i'm sure also that :rh: Tuffy1 was here to guide you and also Junior, the eagle brother of our little :rh: Malala. May be you joined some of your older siblings too and also some older of your family members. 🙏 😭💔

Now you are flying among the stars, marvellous †Tuffy2†. :rh: 🙏

†Tuffy2†, of course you have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

†Tuffy2†, Fly high and freely and protect your original family and siblings, and also your new family who share their food with you, and were the witness of your fledge. Jann Nichols send us some news from Lola and his falily, theyr are ok. Take a look to us too, as we will need your help too. Don't forget also, God has certainly a new and beautiful mission for you . :luck: . :rh:

Harriet memorial

Amazing Grace song by Pamela Chaney Stallings
Speech by Kathy Kochanowski:

Dearest Harriet, you flew out of our lives on February 2, leaving us devastated at the loss of you. I thought you immortal; yes, you would be forever in your field, a Queen who would majestically reign supreme forever.

Those that love you best scoured acres looking for you. This went on for weeks.

Search parties were organized, individuals spent hours in a day…. We wanted to have you home, Harriet, in any way we could. We have no closure, but we know you are part of the earth now.

M15 became a star, Harriet. He raised your kids alone, keeping them safe and fed without fail. We were wowed, and he cared relentlessly for them until they fledged the area. You would be so proud, but we know nothing less would be expected from you.

M15 had suitors, Harriet, right away. The effects of Hurricane Ian had not abated yet.

We quietly cringed seeing many of these females arrive with fresh wounds on their claws. That’s all I can say about that, and IF you died as a result of a fight, Harriet, we respect that, because you know that in the eagle world it’s a noble way to die.

There were other intruders too. Human ones… ones that BREACHED YOUR FIELD, and presumed M15 needed help feeding your kids. Suddenly, there was an invasive crack in the window that separated your world from ours. It angered us, and would have angered you. M15 did just fine on his own.

It would appear M15 has settled with a particular female for now. She is young, about the same age M15 was when he found you. We know that you would like us to like her, so we do, and we know M15 will teach her as you taught him. She wears eyeliner and doesn’t have the birthing hips you had, but M15 seems to like her.

Harriet, there was no other female bald eagle more photographed or written about. Your image is on artwork the world over. You changed the lives of countless people; some of whom needed to be lifted back up. You were the inspiration as many of us became photographers, writers, and artists. You were a muse with a god-like ability to create art, obliquely, and the world was your canvas.

We will never again hear your early morning call as you recite your daily honey-do list. No more will we witness your characteristic sidekick; and on that note, know that your patent-protected sidekick and it’s inherent blueprints are on display at the Museum of Modern Art… It kills me to say we will never again see the heart in your neckline that was on display on as you fed your kids, and we will never again FEEL your heart as you moved sticks to areas that would ensure their safety.

But Ozzie can! In your reunition with him, we can hear his chuckles as he watches you move his sticks again. He must be beside himself with joy.

Your name, Harriet, said backwards, is Tiara. It’s most fitting as you wore your crown well. We will feel your regal presence in your field every time we visit.

This bench is for the memory of you. We never wanted one, but here it is nonetheless, a memorial of the season in which we finally lost you.

Dr. Yess sends her love to you, Harriet, and to everyone here. You were never ours, but we sure loved you.
