Philjo, I got chills reading about Ma Berry. Happy news is welcome. :) Thank you. She is living her life in an eagle way and that, in itself, is a miracle.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euyp7iEHJBA

Julge#7181 °June 14 - October 03.

Julge the young male is the last survivor of a nest of four.
Son of Jan and Janika.
Sibling of Benjamin, Tasane and Malbe.

the last day they were four of them.
2021-10-31_11h26_28.jpg
Benjamin lying down, Julge, Tasane and Malbe.
Julge the closer one, with Tasane and Malbe before all fledged... and met their sad and awfull ending...
2021-10-31_09h43_14.jpg
Julge began his migration on 08-24.
Last time (may be) seen 10-03-2021. He was equipped with a tracker. the signal was lost in September 25 near Soisson in France.
Last data received https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 81#p831581
"- new data: 25.09.2021 (morning), distance 2728km (+ 6km); Louâtre - commune (Catifet, La Falaise, Nadon, La Vallée du Gros Chène and Violaine) in the Aisne department in Hauts-de-France in northern France."
Then Julge was may be seen two time after that, 09-27 and 10-04 in the same area.

:luck: :luck: :rh: May you continue your migration despite all young Julge. We can only cross our fingers and hope that one day your ring will be seen in flight or on the ground by a human. Possible that only your gps transmitter did not hold up. Have a good flight my young friend. :rh: :luck: :luck:

2021 October 30

By dint of enduring and sharing these pains, these sorrows, this sadness and all these tears with all our little feathered friends, young or old, for that matter, maybe one day I will have to withdraw completely for an indefinite period because that season has been particularly terrible despite some wonderful and happy successes.

It is possible that I scatter a little too much in the different nests or there is a real hecatomb this year in terms of the survival of the chicks. Considering what I read in the various forums, I think more for the hecatomb.

RIP 2021

11-12-2021 at 10h20 am. From 367 Collins Melbourne, AUS : Falconet #4 the youngest male of the 4 siblings..

Cause by trichomonasis
Already yesterday, he saw the food brought by his parents, he hastened to them but could not open his beak sufficiently to be fed. His cries were terrible.
He spent his last night with his two sisters. During his last night both sisters were laying down all stuck against him.
At a moment Mom came to see if all was good.
41 days old today. This morning his siters stayed close to him. At a moment F#4 tried to get up but felt down again. Then all his little body relaxed.

I'm the whiter, i'm the youngest, i'm #4 !!!
2021-11-12_06h57_14.jpg

Yesterday, "Food, food food, hurry up!!!"
2021-11-11_15h09_18.jpg

Around 10h20, Finally, without a sound F#4 took off his coat and his soul flew to the heavens under the gaze of his siblings.🙏😢💔 Rip little Prince. :cry1:

RIP 2021

>11-06 & <11-12-2021. From Port Lincoln, AUS : Ospret Solly the oldest female of the 3 2020 siblings.

From Port Lincoln https://www.youtube.com/c/PortLincolnOsprey

"2020 – Three eggs were laid. 11th, 14th & 17th August 2020. All three eggs hatched. 20th, 21st & 24th September 2020.
The first born was named Solly..., the second born was named Dew..., the last born, 3 days after the second Osprey, we have called Taps, Unfortunately Taps died at 18 days old. There were 7 fish brought to the nest the previous day but the two elder chicks didn’t allow him to feed well.
2020.11.06 - Solly and Dew were both banded today. Solly has had a Satellite Tracker placed on her so we will be able to monitor where she goes to for up to 4 years. 2020.11.24 - Solly took her first flight today.
2020.12.03 - Dew took his first flight today and has not been sighted since he left the area.
2021.02.21 - Solly left the Port Lincoln area. 2021.09.12 - Solly is still happily fishing at Eba Anchorage."

Older sister of mia Dew and † Tap, at 15 months old, she was followed every day thanks to her tracker. Once we were worry as the tracker had remained silent sometime, this time the GPS tracker worked very well but remained motionless. :chin:

Messages from Port Lincoln FB page at https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosprey

"2021.11.13 - Has anybody in Streaky Bay seen Solly in the past few days? Her tracker hasn’t moved from this position. Hope she has just found a large school of fish and is feeding on them but an update of a sighting would sure put out minds at rest.
And the sad asnwer
2021.11.21 - Community support for these Ospreys has been amazing. Unfortunately after my earlier post we have some very sad news. Richard Hobbs was kind enough to go and look for Solly. He found her at the base of a power pole. Richard is helping us arrange to have her body sent to Adelaide so that an autopsy can be done. Solly has taught us so much and given us so much pleasure in her short life. This is just heart breaking news. 💕💕"

This is how the Port Lincoln 2020 brood story ends.

All the 2020 family with Solly in front (1st plan) Dew behind her and Little Tap between them at the right. Of Course Mom and Dad was here too.
2021-11-13_10h19_28.jpg
Solly to the left with her tracker on her back, Missing Dew on the right. †Tap was already gone
2021-11-13_10h06_42.jpg
Almost the last view she had (Streaky Bay, 165 miles north east of Port Lincoln) where she chose to live her life.
2021-11-13_11h28_24.jpg

Finally, Solly took off his coat and his soul flew to the heavens to join Tap and may be Dew as it was never seen after his fledge.🙏😢💔 Rip Princess Solly. :cry1:

2021 November 13

By dint of enduring and sharing these pains, these sorrows, this sadness and all these tears with all our little feathered friends, young or old, for that matter, maybe one day I will have to withdraw completely for an indefinite period because that season has been particularly terrible despite some wonderful and happy successes.

It is possible that I scatter a little too much in the different nests or there is a real hecatomb this year in terms of the survival of the chicks. Considering what I read in the various forums, I think more for the hecatomb.

RIP 2021

11-12-2021. From Huttons Bowl ca : Condor chick #1075, Mom and †Dad (#594 & #374)'s 2021 young condor.

°04-10-2021 Condor chick #1075 †11-12-2021, 7 months old. His Dad#374 died in july 2021.

From California Condor Recovery Group (FB) https://www.facebook.com/groups/145100328941758

A non-parental male, condor 247, was first seen harassing the chick above the nest cavity on October 11. Condor 594, the remaining female parent of chick 1075, attempted to protect the chick and their nest from condor 247.
Video by Cali Condor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGI4ZKjePXc
However, on the evening of October 12, condor 247 pulled chick 1075 out of its nest and out of view from the nest cameras.
On October 13, 2021, U.S. Fish and Wildlife and Santa Barbara Zoo biologists evacuated the Huttons Bowl chick (condor 1075) from below its nest cavity due to injury caused by aggression from a non-parental male (condor 247).
Biologists were able to locate and transport the chick to the Los Angeles Zoo to receive expert evaluation and care from their veterinarian staff and keepers. The Huttons Bowl chick is currently undergoing treatment and is being assessed for further improvement before making any definitive prognoses.

Victim of a territorial dispute.
Update on Huttons Bowl chick #1075. Sadly, he passed away on November 12,2021... I'm sure he had the best care possible, and they didn't let him suffer.

#1075 left, fed by his Mother #594 just one week before his last battle.

2021-12-01_10h41_37.jpg
Thanks to the LA Zoo who tried to help him during his las month. Sure they did all they can but who can go against his fate when the time is right.

Besides the memories, that's all we have left of him ... a tag number "75" aka #1075 :cry1: :rh:
2021-12-01_10h51_47.jpg

This world was too hard for him. Condor Chick#1075 had a last breath, a last thought to his Mother #594 and finally he took off his feathered coat, deployed his wings and his soul flew to the heavens where he was welcome by his wide opened wings father Condor #374. RIP "Merveilleux et trop Jeune" condor😢💔🙏

One more time this season, a wondeful Angels had flown... :( :cry1: :brknhrt:
Fly high and freely with always a full crop mon jeune ami :brknhrt:

11-25-2021. From Charles Sturt University at Orange, AUS : Falconet Yurruga, little Prince of Daimond and Xavier.

Yurruga °10-18-2021 - last time seen on 11-25-2021. 46 days old.

"We expect the worst for Yurruga, the Orange eyas. After his fledge he was seen during a few days but hasn't been seen since last thursday 27th November (time the falcon family faced a terrible storm and weather).
Xavier and Diamond behaviour is unusual with parents raising a juvie :(
Cam Manager Cilla Kinross has been trying to find him every day, everywhere without success. She's giving a small week more but everyone feels it's the end.
Not only did the family have only one chick to raise (2 eggs didn't hatch), but now this.

Update about the yound Condor #1075

"1075 died suddenly and unexpectedly. He had spinal damage and no use of his legs and tail when we first received him presumably from the 100+ foot fall. The tip of his beak was broken off. He had several broken bones including a wing bone. By the time he died all the bones appeared to have healed. The legs and tail were improving ever so slowly so we had hope he might make a full recovery. Necropsy performed but more tests are pending for a definite cause of death. He didn't seem to be in any obvious pain and was playful, had a good appetite and wanted to explore his environment like a chick of his age would naturally seek, except his paralysis severely limited his ability to do anything. He had a special apparatus that allowed him to lay in a harness with his legs hanging down and feet touching the ground. We would monitor any slight movement of his feet that developed. It was a long and messy period as he couldn't keep himself clean so he had to be cleaned up and bathed by hand every day. I can tell you this, after treating countless condors for lead poisoning and other injuries, this bird was not showing any signs of pain or discomfort, quite the contrary as I believe he was mostly numb from the waist down for the greater part of his time here. We did all we could do with the long term goal of getting him back into the wild. Cant win them all. "

What suffering you had to endure my young friend, maybe you were doing the hardest since your condition seemed to improve, slowly, maybe too slowly for your own hope one day to be able to fly freely. Rest in peace sweet angel. :rh: :cry1:

UPDATE from Orange Australia Box Cam, Falconcam Project Box Cam, Falconcam Project

In viewtopic.php?p=519086#p519086
I changed MIA to RIP for Yurruga's Position

From Cilla Kinross
NEWS 5 December 2021.
I am scaling back daily searches for Yurruga. Despite daily searches, there has been no sign of Yurruga since he was seen on a nearby roof in a thunderstorm on 25 November.

By now he should be flying around the campus farm. The adult behaviour (frequent pair-bonding, lack of warning calls to me) also suggests that he has died. The most likely scenario is that he hit a tree or other obstacle while trying to fly in poor weather. Hunting would have been difficult for the adults in that weather as well, so he may have been in poor condition.

The two eggs were non-viable. Probably one was infertile and the other fertilised, but without a formed chick. I removed them and one will go to the Australian Museum (one exploded!).

So a sad end to the season, especially as there was only one chick. Let's hope for a better season in 2022. Thanks for everyone's concern.

RIP 2021

12-14-2021. From Latvia : Black Storklet Katrin aka OXUC.

At the time when I was following the young †Julge (viewtopic.php?p=510204#p510204) during his dramatic migration, while awaiting a hypothetical visual check of the continuation of his flight towards the South, I followed by episode a young black stork during its migration towards Turkey. Katrin was his name. It seems that Katrin had found his feeding and resting place for several days in Turkey.
Low clouds, continuous rain, and a power line got the better of his bravery. You must have suffered so much before your end because apparently you would have moved a few meters before giving up. :(
Soner Bekir hurried to rescue her but the time wasted in understanding that the GPS was not really reliable over very short distances and the rescuer's distance did not make it possible to arrive in time to save her. Merci Soner :ty:

Even in death, Katrin, you remains beautiful and gorgeous. :cry1:

More about Katrin from https://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/vie ... 08#p835308

KATRIN
"A juvenile Black Stork hatched in Latvia (wearing a ring with the Latvian code 0XUC, ringed by Maris Strazds in northwestern Latvia on July 4 as one of four chicks), which migrated 200 km north to the settlement of Kiili after leaving the nest and stayed there to stop at a household. Although the host caught fish and put them in the garden pond, it was not enough food for the young Black Stork. Thus, he was captured by the people of the Estonian Wildlife Society and the Environmental Board delivered the caught stork to Tartu, to the animal clinic of the University of Life Sciences under the care of Dr vet Madis Leivits. The young bird was clearly underweight on arrival, 2.5 kg. At the animal clinic, he had to be fed for 11 days until his weight reached normal. He weighed 2.96 kg before being released. Based on the outlook, pictures and measurements, she is probably a female. Maris Strazds asked to be named the stork as Katrin. As we had just sent back a transmitter from Turkish colleagues, it was used for to track Katrin.
We released Katrin in southwestern Estonia near Häädemeeste on September 15. Katrin immediately took off, flew south and disappeared beyond sight. On the first day, however, not far away, because the compass needed calibration so as not to repeat the former mistake of choosing a direction. However, Katrin has flown south and arrived in Poland on September 19 and in Ukraine on September 21. On September 23 she reached eastern Romania, where she spent one month and continued migration on October 24. Already on 25th Katrin crossed Marmara Sea from Europe to Asia, Turkey. Next day Katrin spent in Lesvos island, but since October 27 in valley of Bakircay river, north of Izmir. Up to December 13. During the night between 13/14 she perished at Yayacöy river side." Katrin weighed only 1.8kg. Sad to repoort that Soner has located Katrin's body. Soner himself was so sad to have found dead Katrin. His journey was 110 Km from his place to Katrin's location. I think it took him about 90 minutes. He says that it is still very fresh so death occurred within the last 24 hours. There is a broken wing. There are power lines 50 m distant.

One more time this season, a wondeful Angels had flown away... :(
Fly high and freely with always a full crop beautiful Katrin :brknhrt:
You also have a special place in our heart forever... :rh:

2022 June 20

By dint of enduring and sharing these pains, these sorrows, this sadness and all these tears with all our little feathered friends, young or old, for that matter, maybe one day I will have to withdraw completely for an indefinite period because that season has been particularly terrible despite some wonderful and happy successes.

It is possible that I scatter a little too much in the different nests or there is a real hecatomb this year in terms of the survival of the chicks. Considering what I read in the various forums, I think more for the hecatomb.
