02-15-2023. Almost one year ago,
Notre Dame, Leef at St. Patrick's County Park Indiana.
Bald Eagle Mom ND was missing forever just before laying her eggs, Mom ND, Dad and the nest were all ready to welcome them. Destiny did not give them (and us) this possibility.

02-10-2023 Beautiful Mom ND

And tomorrow I will post the last photo that I was able to take of her on that fateful and sad day and which surprised everyone with this absence which lasted hours, days then weeks... until the end of our hopes :brknhrt: :cry1:

1 year ago, today
Notre Dame, Leef at St. Patrick's County Park Indiana.

Just one year ago, here is my last pic of Mom ND, the last time i saw her .... So if i have a last message for her, Mom ND, you will stay the Mom of this nest like some others who won't never be replaced (their name) like Dad Decorah or Mom Decorah North or Mom Berry College...
Fly high and freely with always a full crop, Mom ND. We are Missing you even if F seems to be very well adopted by everybody but a new story with Dad is almost ready to begin❤🤞. Keep an eye and protect your nest from where you are now, please, Mom ND🙏💔😢
First Pic, my last morning one 02-15-2023 Mom ND (right) and Dad during her last day with us
2024-02-15_07h10_56.jpg

2nd one, a pic by Carol Mandis-beadle taken 5 days before 2-10 because for me it represent a sign of Mom ND leaving us, alone. :bye 1:
2024-02-15_07h11_25.jpg

I promise Mom ND, this is the last time I disturb you during your well-deserved rest. Rest In Peace ❤🙏

:cry1: :cryhanky: :brknhrt:

This early morning around 3 to 4 am at Captiva Island, FL.

So sorry for what happened to you beloved Lusa, very sorry for your loss Connie, Clyde, Cal and Ondabebe :huggie:  :grhug:

Lusa, you are not the first one and not the last one unfortunately.
Some of your older siblings and too many others like E14 at SWFEC suffered the same desease... but like for them after 3 am this morning the Heavens contain a new star called Lusa... :brknhrt:

May be we have to pray for Cal now and :luck: :rh:

In fact at 03h25 it was the end... no more signs of life on its little body (breathing or movements)

Update on Liberty & Guardian's 3 Eggs 2/29/24:
It is truly a sad day here at FORE as we grapple with the news that Liberty & Guardian have lost 1 of their 3 precious eggs. This is never the kind of news we want to have to share with all of you, but as you know all too well by now, this is nature & we have just have to accept the good with the bad, as difficult & as painful as that can be.
We know for sure that this was the 8th time our amazing Miss Liberty has laid 3 eggs in a clutch! We also know that there were likely even more times she has laid 3 eggs, but we didn't always have a camera to see exactly how many eggs she had laid some years.
However, out of the 8 times that we could see she had laid 3 eggs, Liberty & her 3 mates have successfully raised triplets (3 eaglets) four times in 2009, 2010, 2015 & 2021. So, that shows us that losing 1 of the 3 eggs is actually a fairly common occurrence & has now happened at least 50% of the time that we have documented. Most recently, Liberty & Guardian lost their 3rd egg in 2022, but then went on to raise 2 of the most adorable & bonded eaglets we've ever seen, Sentry & Star.
But, it also shows us that successfully raising 3 eaglets to fledgling & beyond four different times, as our marvelous Miss Liberty has done with 3 different mates, is truly a remarkable feat in the Eagle World! Liberty is truly a LEGEND in her own right, and we will all be so happy with any # of eaglets she raises with Guardian this year!
We understand it will take some time for each of you to mourn this great loss, along with having to let go of all the hopes & dreams you had for this new little one and for the 5th potential set of triplets for Liberty in her lifetime so far. Please let those tears flow & take all the time you need. Feel free to reach out to us privately if you need to. The support we receive from this beautiful, loving eagle community & being able to provide "a safe place to land" for each of you is really what keeps us at FORE going, through the good times & the bad.
We are here for you always & we will find a way to move forward together with our mutual love, respect & admiration for our beloved Redding Eagles. We will follow Liberty's lead & do our best to stay calm & carry on as we always do!
Please keep Liberty & Guardian & their 2 remaining eggs along with all wildlife in your thoughts & prayers as they are faced with yet another wild & windy Winter Storm blowing through our area! Now, we all know understand why Liberty & Guardian have their eggs buried so deeply in the Nest Bole this year!
As always, Trust the Eagles!
~Terri & the FORE Team
