Super Eggcited for Sam and Gabby! So happy to see the news this morning. A new chapter in the Hamlet as brand new parents learn the ropes of eagle parenting.

Comment from Sharon Dunne's Facebook page, and her Lady Hawk video below:
I believe that E14 may have broken a blood pin feather this afternoon getting caught on the sticks.rails. A blood pin feather is a serious emergency for a bird. A broken blood feather that remains in a bird's skin essentially acts as an open faucet, allowing blood to pour out of the bird's body. Because birds cannot tolerate much blood loss, broken blood feathers that are left untreated can be fatal in some cases. Bleeding may stop on its own but left untreated it can continue to reopen and bleed. To stop the bleeding, it is necessary to pull the feather from the follicle.

Pascale, I saw some other photos on Facebook, and it does look like it could possibly be a fish hook.

So heartbreaking. Praying for our sweet 14, so spunky and strong that I must believe she will make it through the night. I trust in the Pritchetts and that they were on this very quickly, as they have acted in the past. I know everyone will be sending strong, positive healing energy and prayers to our beloved E14. :brknhrt:

Little angels with eagle wings
To fly high and watch over
The nests that we see
And the ones that we never
To soar high in human hearts
And bring peace in our pain
Fly free, little E14
Reach for the heavens, fly through the rain
On your eagle wings so strong
Rejoice with those brave before you
You are our eagle guardian angel
The love you leave will see us through.

💕😢

So tragic to lose sweet little E14 so young and so full of promise. We all are heartbroken.

Thank you, Minna, for finding the words for your "Eagle Angel" poem.

Minna, that is a beautiful poem. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with all of us. I am so sad and heartbroken over E14 ‘s passing but I know she is watching down on her nest and Harriet and M15, soaring high and free. May you always have a full crop little one :cry1: :brknhrt:

I'm beyond sadness. seeing e14 died and then his body retrieved and Harriet and M15 looking for him... this is too much !...
you were such a joy to watch, brave, smart, funny and so beautiful
At least we know it wasnt a fishing hook but a broken blood feather... how could that happen little one...
I picture ozzie and your little eggbert sibling waiting for you on rainbow bridge- waiting for you with opened wings...

like aunnybird I wont be able to watch SWFEC from now. I'm not even interested in any other nest.
