some bad news and good ones too.

In Russia after 3 days of heavy rain and no food the youngest starved and was finally killed by his oldest sibling :cry1:
sorry little guy and RIP :cry1: . Let's hope #2 is catching up !

Good news is we have a Spunky! in Canada. an hawklet was brought as prey in a bald eagles nest and finally was welcomed as a member of the family with the eaglet, which was pecking at him at the beginning and today is seen feeding the hawklet - at least trying but I think the hawklet got some bites :w00t:- this morning !
a little bird told me that Christian Sasse is preparing some journey,!

GROWLS - Is it dinner or is it family? by Pamichen

Oh my...well, June 4th was one for the books over on Gabriola Island. The GROWLS eagle cam captured a most amazing event.
Live lunch was seemingly brought in for the eaglet in the nest, but that eaglet had a greater need. Maybe they are lonely, longing for their lost sibling. Really, who knows what is transpiring with this family, they are wild, one could never guess. But we can watch. And that is the educational part of this wonderful tool that we call security camera. ;)
You can watch a live raptor of some kind (Peregrine Falcon perhaps) get dropped in the nest, served to eaglet and witness a whole new level of nesting happening. I am totally drawn right back into this family.
I have had troubles since the untimely death of the younger sibling. Like, I was upset at the parents and sibling for that whole thing. But why??? It's nature. Ultimately, nature will do what is necessary to survive.
Well, this little raptor, new to the fold is going to learn a whole new level of survival. Absolutely Fascinating!!!

Be obsessed like me! ha ha ha! ;)
All footage is the property of GROWLS.
If you are interested in helping keep this camera going, GROWLS would graciously accept any donation. We are working on funding to acquire a better quality camera, for zoom and nighttime capabilities. :) Donations can be made on our website at www.growls.ca

Last year i follow this nest for the first time, 3 osplets, a few hours after hatching the younger was stuck to the mother's wing and was thrown from the nest then lack of food (for the middle one) and overheating Temp for the older one led to death...

This season again 3 osplets,

yes bald eagles are taking any opportunity :cry1:
RIP little ones

In Russia we could see that the stellar eagles have a chick...

unfortunately right after this last footage, the camera and material were stolen  so we wont see what will happen to this beautiful family :rh:

From https://www.facebook.com/cowlitzpudospreycam/

Cowlitz PUD Osprey Cam
At 9am this morning the bald eagle returned and took a second chick. Electra again tried to defend her babies but she couldn't match the speed and strength of the eagle. Unfortunately, bald eagles are opportunists and have been know to catch and eat other birds’ fledglings. The eagle had one successful meal from the nest yesterday and came back for another today.
We are crossing our fingers that we will not see the same situation play out with the last surviving osprey chick.
As a reminder, the Cowlitz PUD Osprey Cam shows nature unfolding before our eyes, showing us both life and death.
