Smola kids spent the night together on the nest tree... but Elle fell down when she tried to dismount her branching this morning. we saw her flying after so she's ok.

Baroness came first- she stayed above Melle on last pics and once she saw both her offsprings on nest tree she flew off.

Great pics, Thanks Pascale !

Still so :( for Rachel (Hog Island osprey nest) with her broken leg
Disabled Rachel delivers a fish for Halley. Hog Island Ospreys. 16 August 2019 by Arlene Beech
Rachel's leg shows no sign of returning to a natural alignment, and she clearly feels pain as she can't bear weight on it for long but it didn't stop her bringing Halley a fish and it was lovely to see her on the perch. Steve dropped in with a stick so the family was all together again! :-)

Philippe I hope Rachel will migrate well and her safe return will be so much expected. I can't imagine steve without his beloved mate... at least we can see Halley is doing great ! I saw her feeding halley a little while ago. she could do it :rh:
Grinčs the lesser spotted eaglet from Latvia fledged this morning. I made a short video.

I thought LSE juvies weren't seen on nest after they fledged but this cutie did :w00t:
let's see if mom will be back this evening for her cuddling preening time with Grinčs like she does almost every day.

beautiful Sunnybird !
In Florida Harriet and M15 are back on duty and that is great to see ! Harriet is now getting old.... sorry lady and we sure want her to stay healthy and have many other Es :rh: :rh:
on a... bad point of view... there are buildings constructed near yonder pond. humans shrink their territory... yonder pond is one of the places where they are fishing.! also it is one of Harriet favorite place to rest, bathe, and for the eaglets to learn fishing and hunting, and bathing too... I hope their next season won't be too much disturbed  with the noise and human activity.

here is the link of the last wskrsnwings video. a wonderful one of course.

i would like to share this video from Martin Tyner rescuing a rare white bellied bald eagle ! poor baby was under nourished and his feathers are in very poor condition... he'll need a 1 year + rehab to be released... if he can.

he is beautiful. Martin said his sibling was "normal"

https://youtu.be/sbCkxQ1q978

Martin tyner lives in Utah and he is taking care of wildlife especially Raptors. he's also doing some falconry. do not hesitate to watch his videos. he's doing a wonderful job !

Great information about the white belly on a Bald Eagle.
I did not know about how rare this coloring is.

Sunnybird I guess how bad you must feel now...

For several days at Mississippi fly way cam 2 juvies were spotted as injured. one more badly than the others, he had a broken leg and was in the water since yesterday... tail feathers were missing and he was unable to fly.
RRP was informed about the situation. why didnt they catch it ? I think there was a try... not sure it was for this juvie or the other.
Whatever yesterday situation was already bad. no action done? and today the cams were panning and they spotted the juvie with the head in the water !

so he's dead ! such a sad outcome... and the non rescue is questionable  they knew where he was, how bad his condition was and... did nothing :cryhanky: :tt: :hlp:

Update on Decorah Eaglets from
SOAR - Saving Our Avian Resources

~ Moving on up! ~

The four hatch-year bald eagles in the 20x60' flight pen have mastered taking food items out of the water, flying, turning, and landing. Next up in their rehabilitation process is to build stamina and social skills.

To accomplish these next tasks, D33, DN9, Allamakee, and Calmar have all moved to the 100’ flight pen! As part of the moving process, weights and beak depth measurements were taken again (since they could still be growing!). Both females (D33 and DN9) weigh in at 10 pounds and have a tish more depth to their beaks. There was no change noted for the two males.

The photo shows all four of them up on the far back perch. They are sitting under a skylight panel so they look washed out. Plus close-up photos of three of the four. Somehow Allamakee didn’t get his photo taken.

D32 is still rooming with Decorah. He spends much of his time on the padded perch looking out the window and only is seen on the ground for food and a bath. He continues to stretch out that right leg and move the toes. How long will D32 stay in this flight pen? The more he can gently use his right leg and foot, the better. D32 is only 12 weeks post-surgery. That’s really not a very long time and is too soon to put flight pressure on that leg. Think of a human who had surgery to stabilize a broken bone, they wouldn’t be running 12 weeks post-surgery.
