UPDATE.
DNR will not be retrieving the eaglet's bodies for necropsy. Both adults perched on a branch just above the nest all night. Both flew out earlier today. Dad is back and looks well. Mom looked a bit under the weather this morning. Keeping thoughts positive

One of the parents began to eat one eaglet's body so i'm not sure the decision taken before was the best one...

Beautiful s'caps, sunnybird. Every now and then I like to watch the Flyway. I love the sounds of all the birds and love it when some eagles visit the eagle branch. Thanks for posting :)
Best wishes,

Peggy :)

So sad for Jabu as Nikita his mate, Tankwa and Yôko announced his death a couple of weeeks ago at the La Flêche Zoo :( :brknhrt: :cry1:
Rip Jabu.

From Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Zoo.de.La.Fleche
2021-05-12_10h51_10.jpg
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Jabu, our male white lion, left us abruptly a few weeks ago, at the beautiful age of 15 years.
The examination performed by our vets immediately after his death allowed us to understand the causes. The analyzes showed that Jabu's spleen was abnormal and affected by a cancer called "lymphoma". During the previous weeks, Jabu did not show us any warning signs, so it was unfortunately impossible for us to know that Jabu was developing this terrible disease.
Jabu was born in November 2006 and he arrived at La Flèche Zoo in 2008. Jabu has marked the spirits of everyone, generated 21 beautiful births and shared beautiful moments of life with Nikita, his partner. It will forever remain an emblem of La Flèche Zoo and its species. Jabu was an extraordinary lion, with a strong character and very protective of his family. Everyone here knew him and remember many beautiful memories.
To this day, Nikita, Tankwa and Yôko do not seem to be affected by Jabu's absence but we are of course attentive to their well-being.
Thank you Jabu for your beautiful descendants and the beautiful and intense moments that we will all have lived in your company.

Hi Sunnybird, i saw a video of this family
one of these guys was sleeping on the back of it's mother when she decided to lift up from the ground
the little guy fell down on the green and on its back with its legs battling against the air a long moment before Dad came to help
Merci :huggie:
