That's interesting, sunny bird. It kind of makes you wonder how they come up with the group names for the different birds and animals. :dunno:

Thanks for sharing it with us. The picture of the herons is beautiful!
Best wishes,

Peggy :)

Cookie of Big Bear Lake lived a very short life. He was loved dearly by all and touched thousands of hearts, he will be missed terribly.
Here is a short video of some of my favorite clips of Cookie, Simba, Shadow and Jackie.
May Cookie fly high on angels wings now and forever. ❤

I always find difficult to watch tributes for deceased Raptors :(

I'm so glad all 3 Decorahs eaglets are taken care of and safe from black flies plague. the Great Spirit blue peregrine falcon nest have also issues with them. the 2nd eya, Carson, jumped off the box to escape them :( he's safe in the foliage below the box. his sister was killed by a GHO earlier this week :cry1:

I have a thought to Mom Decorah and DM2 and also DNF and dad Decorah North... what are they thinking :cry1:

on the bright side my Smola babies are growing and growing, sibling rivalry has diminished as Baron provides a lot... lot ! of food.

there won't be a health check this season as the eaglets are too old now. I think #1 is a female and #2 is a Male given the size difference and also the beak, feet and legs

From Mississippi River Flyway cam.
Bonjour Philjo:
I am still looking for Mere & Pere, I do not have good pics.
Bonjour Pascale: Just saw your recent Smola video, "dropping the stick"
They are so cute, I know why you watch them.

Hey everyone, Pascale has her videos on YouTube :D

Thank you, Peggy180: I got the idea from either MinnaNH or Nestfriend.
I learned that a group of eagles is called a "Convocation" of eagles---how distinguished! ;)

Thanks, Philjo, for posting the tribute to Cookie. I watched it when it was first published, as tears were streaming down my face. Watching it again today, I could actually look back with sweet memories and enjoy the photos. I think Simba truly grieved for Cookie, as did Jackie and Shadow; I think Simba still misses his sibling so much.

The black flies are causing terrible harm to wildlife, including our beloved raptors. You have to wonder about all the eaglets and birds who have not been found and have fallen out of or fledged from their nests prematurely.

SOAR has created patient pages for all Decorah and Decorah North eaglets and these can be checked for updates:

Hello everyone, sure have missed you all this season! I look forward to being back this fall and enjoying all of your wonderful comments, pic's, video's, well all things in the world of nature.

Not sure if you all know but my much-loved Aunt shattered her hip and broke her femur, which required much time getting her back on the road to health. My Uncle suffered a health issue just prior to my Aunt so Den and I were already in full assist mode.

My sister unexpectedly passed away in September from a Stroke, that was very shocking. Then I had to have some work done myself regarding my heart, this required lots of hours in rehab after surgery, and finally on the healing side of life and my dad took ill, 3 weeks later after being released from the local hospital, he was helicoptered at night to the hospital here by me. He passed away 3 weeks ago. My first fathers day without him has been hard for sure. During the past 8 months of trials and tribulations, I have to say my faith, family, friends, and yes even my outside cat colony has helped me through it all. In fact I now am hand raising a baby kitten as it's been abandoned by a first time momma. My neighbor is waiting for this little bundle of preciousness so a happy home awaits it. And my heart is full of love for it.

Please give hugs to your loved one's and always remember to tell them how much they mean to you!

Take care
Rainna/Sandy D :rh:
