Thank you Philjo. It was clear to most of us that Fluffy was not doing well, but we had hope. I only pray that he didn't suffer too much. Now his spirit flies forever free. RIP Fluffy. :brknhrt:

Happy that at least 1 of the Melbourne falconets has successfully fledged. From all reports, he has been spotted and seems to be doing well. Hopefully the one who is left will also successfully fledge when he is ready. :luck:

And congrats to you Philjo on your newest grandbaby.

The cycle of life goes on. :grhug:

Yes, we had hope for Fluffy. It is comforting to see all the good wishes for her/him. :brknhrt:
And thank you all for the posts from the last day or so. :cry1:

Good Eagle News!
:eag:
I stopped at my local wildlife rehab center to give them a donation. She is rehabbing another Bald Eagle.
She showed me a picture of the x-ray and it is a small fracture on the small bone near the "elbow". The wing is taped to the body, the Eagle is eating normally. It is so fascinating to be able to see this. After a few weeks of wing taped, then a flight cage to see that eagle can fly normally and catch live prey normally. Oh, the eagle is from about 50 miles away. So not from this area. When time, she will release eagle in the area it was found.
Oh, my donation will buy feeder mice for all the raptors. Yum yum. ;)
One day in the wild . . .

I wish we had such centers here :(
Lucky raptors :)

Orange falcon juvies are flying like big falcons, they stayed 2 or 3 days on the roof of their box, screaming to get food; it seems Gaama is a more skilled flyer, while Budhin crashed his first landing. But both are doing great

I still send a lot of love to little fluffy... little one, might the love of your parents, siblings, and ours, humans, carry you through your journey to the rainbow bridge :rh: :rh: :rh:

California is on fire again...
human losses, houses, buildings, properties, of course, but vegetation, wildlife, too... :brknhrt:
this never ends.
Please, Californian chatters, be safe :rh: :rh:

I don't want to be pessimist but i'm very worried for Flappy, the middle Falconet from Melbourne
It isn't so happy, the same day (Nov 8) it lost its two siblings, Fluffy died early in the morning, and the older 'Flew" fledged and never came back in the nest…. For the first time Flew was there some hours ago...
Flappy is no more so active, and as the little one, it seems to have problem with its eyes too. I don't know how all the things will go... :dunno: Even it seems it stopped growing… It is no more motivated by food...
This is my thought, not from today but already the day after it stayed alone ..... Please just pray for Flappy.
I don't like what i see in it's beak too, may be it's one of the reason,
Sorry for the poor quality of the photos, but may be it's better too

Hi. Rainna aren't you from Wisconsin? I just bought a beautiful apple pie and cider based ham from a farmers market in Wisconsin. Both non-gmo based. And actually I have never had a ham with apple cider base. So looking forward to the holidays and family gatherings and food. Actually could not make a pie like that without spending more for the actual ingredients than the whole pie I bought. It is snowing here already and expecting more snow tonight. And no I do not live in beautiful Wisconsin. My great nephew is a Green Bay Packers fan. He would love to move to Green Bay. Happy everything to everyone.

it's TIME but it's too late for snow flake cottonball fluffy and flappy... plus all wildlife we don't know who suffers and dies !

sorry I feel sad and angry :brknhrt: :brknhrt: :cry1: I had bad feelings about this nest after what happened last year.
I hoped I was wrong.
the list is far too long now. I couldn't stand one more loss.
fly high little one .
and I feel the same sadness and anger eagleslanding for all wildlife dying in these Californian fires. how many fires this year ??? how many million critters die in it, not forgetting trees, plants!!! how many of these fires are due to humans - voluntarily or not? for how many dead people ??

A beautiful sunrise at the Mississippi River Flyway CAM

The audio is very good and you can hear Eagle vocals even when they are not in sight.
The Zoomie does a great job, also.

Good morning,

Philjo, so sorry to hear about another death in Melbourne. Fly free, high, and happy little Flappy. I hope they can find out if there is some kind of human caused chemical issue that is causing such problems for these falcons.

Pascale, my heart is heavy, too and angry sadness at the destruction and devastation in California. Such loss of live for people and all the animals - pets and wildlife. I think of how the innocent animals must suffer due to human actions.

Sunnybird, thank you for your comforting words and the sunrise picture (so peaceful and beautiful), which brings some solace to my soul.

thank you very much Sunnybird. there are quiet places which allow us to calm down when things are going wrong.

Juliet from Hamlet and Harriett at SWFEC teased us yesterday, both laying in their nest for some time before finally standing up .. and nothing. maybe this time Harriett will lay her eggies before Juliet?

Yes, the Eagle Season has begun! :eag:

I went out on Sunday, November 11 to check on the local eagles, Mere & Pere. I had not seen them together in several weeks. I wondered if they would miss me?
Well, there they were at 9 a.m. waiting on me!

Time to go to where the eagles go. Where.... why here. When the waters of Canada are frozen. They come here and hundreds of eagles have an oasis with water available a habitat that suits them here. And everywhere you look is an eagle. So many that they bypass the one mile safety area and are living so close to each other. Whereas Harriet is now bothered by a eagle or predator within a mile. Our eagles do not have eggs or a nest or a or eaglet to protect.
So without the eaglet or nest or eggs our eagles hundreds of them are able to tolerates being so close together. Quite a site.

Ok so no one here likes apples. How about pears. Sweet potatoes. We have had a couple of snow storms. How about caramel corn balls. How about kifle, my mom made kiflies with walnut filling. How about stollen, my mom always loved stollen.

Family member finally on leave from Afganistan. Good for family to be all together. Great cheer to all as we enter into the holiday season. I can never say no to a pumpkin pie.
Due for more snow tomorrow.

Hi, Rainna - good to see you here!

Eagleslanding - what a delight to see so many eagles. Remind me of where you live?

Bonnie - so glad for R&J in the Hamlet! I was thinking Harriet might beat Juliet this year. Looks like H is still laying in her nest bowl, so maybe tonight is the night.

Sunnybird - more gorgeous photos from MS Flyway - thanks!

Philjo - thanks for the heads-up on the calendar.
