I was able to get out to Goldstream Park last Friday, the day after our big wind storm! The Nature House and washrooms were closed due to power outages and it was a frosty morning but a very invigorating adventure! There were lots of Stellar's Jays around the feeder near the Nature House and lots of eagles of various ages perched in trees along the river.

Goldstream Park cont'd.
A juvenile bald eagle was chasing a great blue heron across the river. It landed on the railing on the metal bridge then flew down to the side of the river. It foraged for awhile before flying off when some people with a dog came along.
There were quite a few juvenile bald eagles in trees along the river.

It was a cold crisp day at Esquimalt Lagoon on the last day of 2018. I was hoping the resident Trumpeter Swan would be there but he was a no-show. I saw the resident eagles and lots of ducks.
I photographed this different looking duck but I don't know what species it is. I asked a few birding friends and they said it looked like a domestic, possibly an escapee from a farm
