Backyard Critters

This is a thread for those who have wildlife in their backyards or frontyards. A place to share the wildlife seen and heard in your local neighborhoods.
Pictures are most welcome :)

Bunnies change the color of their fur from brown in the summer to white in the winter to hide from predators , survive the winter and reproduce in the summer .

 Hi Bev & heather - I have to share this humming bird with you - it comes around my deck all the time but I never have my camera ready. Today it stayed for about 1/2 hour to check out my "hot lips plant" (really it's name). It is an Anna's hummer.

I think it is the one from last year when we had feeders up.

7:00 pm Sept 29
Pics are not the best as it was getting dark and i didn't want to get close and scare them off. I was concerned because we had seen the doe and 2 fawns earlier this month and then i saw another doe and fawn and was worried one of the fawns had not made it.

Here is I believe a red tailed hawk i spotted on top of a small evergreen tree on the 19 th of Sept. The distance was about 350 ft i moved about 75 ft closer At first he was down in the branches and i thought he was a juvenile eagle, he was huge and until i got my camera and got a better look with the zoom i could tell he wasn't.

This is a pic of him leaving the branch and then the next following day he was back circling over the fields, i got the pic of him soaring with my cellphone camera

This is the pic i took of the doe and fawn on sept 21 that i thought maybe the 2nd fawn was missing, but different doe and fawn yay . They were only about 30 ft away from me. I am going to buy a new camera tired of taking poor pictures.
