Hi Sandy, sorry I was out for several weeks for surgery and recovery. This is a sad thing to come back too.

To answer your question it is fairly common for eagles to get West Nile Virus. The following article talks about it briefly. They contract the disease via mosquito bite. According to the article Victory is ok and fledged.

Hi Hope you are feeling better. I was also shocked when I read the posts. Seems like this year has been especially hard on the eagles.
So how is the weather in your state. I was complaining earlier the year how cold and miserable it has been. For the past month we have been caught in this humidex nightmare. Just so hot....no end in sight. Kind of looking forward to a snow flake....did I say that.

Take care of yourself.

Sandy

Feeling much better thank you Sandy.

Afraid the weather is not much better here. Lots of rain so it is keeping the humidity very high and temps are upper 80's to mid 90's (F) so pretty nasty and sticky.

I just received my Valor t-shirt in yesterday's mail.
The teal color is very pretty. I will wear it with pride.
I will always remember Valor "sneaking" under TFL tail to get to the food on the other side.
Very clever.

2019 Nesting Season starts here

Because there is so much great information in the opening posts (thank you, Windsong!), rather than copy everything to a new thread, I'm going to extend this thread for another year.

Great to know Mr. President and the First Lady are back. Any idea when the cameras will be up and running?

Thanks

Sandy

There's a link to a temporary YouTube channel on this page, Sandy - https://www.dceaglecam.org/ - and I'm not sure when their new website with the cam links will be ready. I had the impression it would be soon - but as we all know, projects always seem to take longer than expected!

Thanks Judy
Have not had any time lately to watch the nests.
All work and no time for anything else.
