5:56 am Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Wednesday, Mar 27 @ 12:25am
A new Pacific storm will bring more unsettled weather this weekend with significant rain and snow possible. In the meantime, high pressure will strengthen a bit for the next day or two bringing warmer temperatures as highs top out in the mid 50's under mostly clear skies. Locally windy with southwest winds 10-20 mph and gusts to 30 mph at times. A new Pacific storm will approach the area on Friday with clouds and winds on the increase. We should remain dry for Friday but windy and cooler as highs drop into the 40's. Low pressure will arrive Saturday with an associated atmospheric river. Rain and snow should develop Saturday morning and could be heavy at times. The snow level is very much in question as models are bouncing around 6,000-7,000 feet, which makes a difference for us. Rain, if at all, will change to snow by Saturday night with snow showers continuing Sunday before tapering off on Monday. Several inches of rain are likely on the lower coastal slopes with an inch or two of rain possible here in the Big Bear Valley. Of course there's a but, should the snow level drop sooner than later less rain and more snow would result. Nonetheless, total snowfall accumulations of as much as 1-2 feet are possible over the weekend, with isolated higher amounts possible, especially at resort level and above 7,000 feet. Conditions can and will change rapidly in the mountains! The forecast will continue to be adjusted as we get closer to the weekend so check back for updates.
