Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Thursday, Nov 24
An offshore flow will crank up for our Thanksgiving holiday, generating gusty Santa Ana winds below passes and canyons with blustery conditions across the mountains. Cold air advection will knock temperatures highs the lower and mid 40's today with northeast winds 10-20mph, gusts near 30 are possible, pushing wind chill values into the 20's and 30's throughout the day. Winds should subside this evening, though remain gusty at times through the usual wind-prone locations as lows drop into the teens and 20's. Expect a nice finish to the week under mostly sunny skies tomorrow as highs climb back into the 50's with light northeast winds to around 10mph. As high pressure breaks down over the Great Basin this weekend, a trough will begin to deepen off the west coast shifting Southern California back to an onshore flow. Continued fair with highs in the lower to mid 50's Saturday and Sunday while overnight lows cool to the 20's. A storm is forecast to move into our area Monday bringing a chance for snow showers later Monday into early Tuesday. Forecast models have not come to a solid agreement on the track of this system. Latest runs bring it south as an inside slider, which would bring less rain and snow to the area. A track a little further west could tap into moisture off the Pacific with more precip possible. Either way, it will be a cold system with frigid temps, relatively low snow levels, and gusty winds. How much precipitation remains the big question at this time, but a few inches of snow are possible, another storm could impact the area later in the week.
