All has been quiet. Both H & M remain perched in the attic, dozing on and off. Vocals have sounded a few times. But all is well.

..Lady Hawk is on the ball tonight! Here is her video of the owl strike that happened this evening at about 11:08PM. Naughty Owl!
I want to apologize---after seeing some excellent close-up photos of Harriet that were taken by Marti Lord I have changed my opinion. That is indeed a small injury to Harriet's gape and not food gunk. I'm sure it will heal soon. I'm sorry but I don't have permission to post Marti Lord's photos.

From Lady Hawk -- Nov 28, 2022
Harriet is preening next to M15 on the attic when the owl targets her and knocks her off the branch! She flew off to the left and she could be heard vocalizing in the distance as she came back and circled around the tree and then landed on the nest. M15 joined in with alarm vocals - Harriet is okay. She flew back up to the attic as they both remained alert and watchful. I included this in regular time and slomo.
An owl strike! We were hoping those were over! -- all scaps are from the video
Harriet & M15 have had a reprieve from the owl strikes for the past couple of weeks. The last strike was on Nov 18th when M15 was hit. Hopefully they do not start back up as Harriet is close to laying her eggs.
There is a dark spot on the left side of Harriet's beak - that is not an injury from the owl strike. It is food from her fish dinner earlier this afternoon. I just wanted to point that out as the IR light does highlight it. Thank you for watching!
M15's reaction to the strike--yikes!
I have included a new feature where you can click on the timestamp below and it will take you to the EXACT SPOT in the video so you scroll through those moments quickly! Hope you enjoy this!
Harriet back on the branch safe and sound---she looks OK!

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2022~2023
Thank you MaryF. for video and thanks for info about Harriet's boo-boo. I did not see her, in daylight, before sundown.
Glad it is just from her being a messy eater.
Thanks Lady Hawk for video.

"SWFL Eagle Cam 11-28-22. Owl strikes Harriet, knocking her off the attic; Harriet appears OK."
Cam video covers the owl strike on Harriet on 11-28-22 at 23:08:53. An owl targets Harriet, striking her while she is roosting/preening on the attic branch. Harriet is knocked off the attic branch, flies out to the left, and the owl goes to the right/down. Harriet is seen in the lighting flying past the church as she circles back around to return to the nest. When Harriet moves to the veranda, then the attic, to roost with M15, there is a small dark spot by her gape on the left side. I included some comparison views from earlier in the evening. We will have to wait until daylight to see what the small dark spot is by her beak. Video includes slo-mo, Cam1/Cam3 views, and a slo-mo replay of the pass by the church. Time stamps provided, if interested. Click on any time stamp to advance to that part.
(**In reference to the small dark spot by Harriet's gape, a post in the forum by the Forum Assistant/SWFEC moderator states the small dark spot is gunk from an earlier fish dinner.**)
Here are a few scaps from my video:
11-28-22
23:08:53. An owl strikes Harriet on the attic branch. 23:09:01/02. Circled is the spot Harriet can be seen in the lighting, passing the church. At :02, she can be seen flying in the lighting passing this spot. 23:19. Harriet/closest to the cam, has returned to the attic. The small dark spot by her gape is reported above by MaryF to be gunk from an earlier fish meal.
Good early morning everyone.

06:47. Harriet, closest to cam. Note the (lower) mandible. In the light of day, this appears to be an injury on her mandible, IMO, and not dried food/gunk. Closer look. (I have watched the DVR since the owl strike last night. IMO, she appears to be fine and acting normally. They get a lot of small injuries throughout their lives, and this may be another one. Hopefully she takes a bath today so we can see how it cleans up. If it is food, it will wash off.)

S'caps from last night and after owl hit on Harriet.
10/28 1811 Harriet closest to cam 10/28 2318 Harriet on veranda lower right 10/28 2319 Harriet returned to attic and vocalizes.
It appears to be a fresh injury from owl hit. Reminiscent of M15's injury last season from an owl hit.
**** Good morning Lazy Parrot! Thank you! It is good to be able to lift my head up and get out of bed.
**** Thank you lovinnature, Androcat, and Lady Hawk for your overnight coverage of the owl escapades.
Glad Harriet is okay.
