.. One final video from Lady Hawk for 22nd of March. It seems as though we had a lot of branching today by both of our eaglets.

Here we see 22 hopping around with a nestover while 21 watches -- scaps are from the video

From Lady Hawk -- Mar 22, 2023 #FLORIDA #baldeagles #eagle

Both E's have both been hitting new milestones today - E21 branched to the porch and was up on the spike extension flapping across the nest, Then E22 is seen squeeing and winging around the nest before taking a big hop up to the veranda branch!! Congratulations to both E's!! E21 is watching E22 vigorously wingercising and squeeing up on the veranda - a branch that E21 has not yet conquered!!

M15 then flies in with a fish and E22 dives back down to the nest and mantles and claims it! Thank you Dad for the congratulatory fish! E21 tries to steal four times, and E22 blocks each one and keeps the fish and eats the whole thing. E22 is putting on those big eagle pants now - really great to see the confidence E22 is showing! Thank you for watching!

To see the highlights below, please click on the timestamps to advance to that portion of the video.

Based on the beak of that bird, I think it was an ibis. Very common here in Florida, and they spook very easily

Hello, I have a question about the stress lines or stress bars on the feathers of E22. I know we have seen these before and I know why they happen, but the question is will the eventually grow out and disappear? Are there long term effects that we know of, or is this a normal occurrence in the raptor world? Thanks for the information. Thank you so much to everyone who posts videos and photos here as it has been a strange year and hard to keep up with who/what/where/and what’s for dinner! so happy the kids are growing up strong and can’t wait for one of them to take that leap of faith and fly! Miss you Harriet :rh: :rh:

I was glad to read that dad showed up at the nest in the early morning hours. :)

Interesting that he came into the nest to try and get some tidbits this morning. Yep, maybe trying to teach the e's not to dally when they have food. ;)

Hi, DoubleL. Those stress bars are only part of these first feathers. When they molt, they will be gone. My guess is they are from the stress right after Harriet left. I have some stress marks on my forehead from that, too. :)

Hi trust and DoubleL--trust you are correct that the stress bars will disappear with the first molt. However they were caused by poor nutrition to 22's feathers while they were forming. Remember when we were all worried because 21 was getting most of the food? MaryF

Thank you, MaryF. I remember it well, lol, and yes, it would have been when the feathers were forming. Thank you for the correction.
