Stalking and watching the squirrel Trying to figure how to get to that squirrel

Leaves the tree and flies to the fence 22 returning to the nest tree
From Lady Hawk -- May 31, 2023
E22 is on the pylon at the pond preening itself when it looks over at something that caught its eye - a squirrel on the palm tree! E22 flies off and goes to the lawn and slowly stalks the squirrel inching closer to closer to the tree. I zoomed in on the squirrel so you can see it better. The squirrel goes higher up as E22 goes to the base of the tree and tries to figure out how best to hunt this prey. Then E22 will fly off and land on the drive fence before flying back to the nest tree.
E22's hunting instincts are developing but the skills necessary to successfully capture live prey will take time and practice. Eagles learn how to hunt through observation and trial and error. Hunting is an instinctual skill that all apex predators possess. E22 will practice these hunting and fishing skills over the upcoming months. Juveniles will survive on food that they find and are able to steal from other sources while they work on learning how to hunt. This was a great glimpse into the actual day to day life of a young eagle & on seeing their "thought process" unfolding! Thank you for watching!

Good morning everyone
Here is my ground + cam video from 5-30-23.
Link: https://youtu.be/BPP_itgJVr0
"SWFL Eagle Cam 5-30-23. M15 & Female Eagle Perch Together; E22 Plays in N2; E22's Fishing Attempt."
Video combines ground + cam footage. Video opens with E22 arriving for the sunrise check-in. E22 lands on a upper branch, as seen on Cam3. An intruder arrives to land on the upper branches, but is diverted by E22's presence and vocals. M15 and a female eagle (by size, vocals, behavior) were perched on the nearby cell tower. M15 uses this tower as a perch when the neighboring pair of eagles leave for the summer, which they have done. Typically, this tower is used by one of the other local pairs. Both preen, and vocalize a couple of times. I moved further from the tower so I could see the nest tree area also. Crows swooped the adults, M15 left a few minutes later, and so did I. E22 leaves the nest tree and heads over to N2, the alternate nest built by Harriet and M15 in the W pasture. E22 plays in N2, perches on an outer branch, then leaves view. Later, E22 returns, and attempts to catch a fish, swooping over the pasture pond. E22 returns to the nest tree and keeps cool on the attic. Time stamps below, if interested. Click on any time stamp to advance to that part.
Time stamps: Provided in DVR time; actual time is on the cam clock.
00:00. Opening.
00:07. Cam3. E22 arrives, lands on upper branch.
00:20. Cam1. E22 arrives, lands on upper branch, out of Cam1 view.
00:36. Cam3. Intruder eagle approaches nest tree, flying in from the S. Intruder approaches the upper branches, diverted by E22 already perched there. Intruder flies off to the SW.
00:58. M15 and female eagle are perched on the nearby cell tower. (Typically used by one of the neighboring eagle pairs, M15 uses this perch when they leave, which they have done.)
02:02. Female/left vocalizes, short vocals by M15.
02:18. E22 moves onto the right branch. E22 can see Dad, and spends the morning perched high.
02:37. Female has moved; M15/left, female/right.
02:47. Female starts the vocals again.
03:22. E22 vocalizes to Dad.
03:32. (I have moved, 950' from tower.) M15 is on the right. Crows swoop the eagles.
04:28. M15 left, so I did also.
04:45. Ground view. E22 leaves the nest tree, flies to N2 (not a good view here, 1200' away).
05:06. E22 in N2.
09:06. After about twenty minutes, E22 flies NW, then circles back to the nest tree.
10:35. E22 on the U branch.
12:18. Grackles pester E22.
12:44. E22 leaves to the N.
13:14. Fishing attempt by E22; Slo-Mo first, then normal time replay.
13:32. E22 is flying back to the nest tree.
13:59. E22 arrives.
14:10. E22, keeping cool.
Here are some scaps from my video:
5-30-23
0633. E22 arrives for sunrise check in. 0635. Intruder arrives, appears to want to land on upper branches, diverted by E22. Female/left, M15 right on nearby cell tower.

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2022~2023
Good morning peeps. Happy Thursday.
The fog gently rolled in at 3:30 am. The misty curtain slowly covered the pasture, and things disappeared. No sign of E22 at sunrise today. Probably a bit wet after the evening's heavy rains and fog.
@ 10:37 am. HELLO ! E22 arrives at the attic. Vocal. and of course a tri of "little friends" accompany E. Just to pester.
@ 10:45 am. After the grackles have, tag teamed and pestered E22 so much. E22 leaves the nest tree. Flies down the church fence line and maybe to the north. Bye sweet pea. Be safe
@ 10:57 am. E22 is back to the attic. With only one grackle friend that wants to play tag. E says don't touch me !
@ 11:02 am. E 22 launches off attic. Flies south. Starts to soar to southeast, then west, then back south and finally out of camera view at top of the screen. Does come back into view across the street. Still soaring /flying.
E22 must be playing hide and seek with M, and E22 is it.
Temp 83°

Good afternoon everyone!
to EVERYONE that contributes to this forum. This forum means so much to me and has been
for many years. Watching, learning, and documenting the lives of Harriet and M15 and all their
offspring has brought me so much joy as well as heartache, but more happiness than sorrow.
I enjoy seeing everyone's posts and viewpoints as well as any videos that document the history
of our amazing eagle family. So many thanks to all members.... and keep posting! Thanks to the
Hancock Wildlife Foundation, Judy B, Mary F, and Journi for maintaining the SWFEC thread.
E22 is 145 days old on this first day of June.
0600 A foggy morning and no early visit from E22 or M15 1037 Here comes E22 from the northeast 1037 E22 lands on the attic.
