Suemac, What a wonderful surprise; so glad you found the key under the mat. Hopefully Ian will brush past and cause no damage. I’m sure Harriet and M are hunkered down somewhere safe. Thanks for the tour zommie and Suemac. for safety for all.

I was listening to the news & they mentioned the Caloosahatchee River. I knew right where Ian was heading. I hope that everyone, including our favorite eagles, stays safe. Thank you, as always, to the Pritchett family for providing the cameras. Wishing them a safe ride through the storm.

Due to Hurricane Ian... the cams are currently not live streaming.
We hope that Harriet and M15 are okay and that their nest tree was strong enough to withstand the hurricane winds and rain.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone and to all the wildlife who were in Hurricane Ian's path.

Here is a picture of the nest tree from MLiz Photograhy. Thank you, Liz, for visiting the nest, and allowing me to share your photograph on the forum. I pray Harriet and M15 are safe, and are soon seen back in the pasture.
The nest is no longer there, but can be rebuilt, of course. According to the SWFEC page, the cam(s) are no longer there.

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2022~2023
.
Thank you Androcat for your informative post that you posted above.
~We are all so grateful that this photo shows that the nest tree is still standing and per the SWFEC reported post..."the nest is gone and so are Cam 1" (I haven't heard any word about Cam 2 and the Pond Cam...yet. )
Also, per the photo posted above, it looks like the Attic and/or the Outer Attic Branch might be missing?...
So...We will have to wait to get photos/videos that will show more angles of the nest tree to see what damage there really is...and also see the true condition of the cams/power lines to the cams.. and pasture/pond areas.
FYI to everyone: - Remember: We all need to get written approval from any photographer and videographer who posts their photos/videos on any social media platform before we can post them here in the HW forums!
Some great information from JudyB (HW Admin) about when to give credit for photos/videos:
(For any questions about this, please PM (Private Message) JudyB here in our HW forum.)

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2022~2023
Thank you for the updates so far and I have the Pritchett's in my prayers, along with the horses and our precious H & M.
I have a question about the nest and cameras:
*IF* the cameras are gone and *IF* H & M rebuild Nest 1 (if they eve have enough supporting limbs to do so), would there be time to replace the cameras this season? Or is it too far into the mating season to mess with the tree? I'm just curious. I have read on Facebook at least 1 confirmation that Nest 2 is still there, but I haven't seen a pic or double confirmation so not sure. I was mostly wondering about the legality of putting cams up now on Nest 1 tree at this point in the year.
Hope to see some images of H & M soon and know they are ok

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2022~2023
. Hello WarEagleWatcher.
This is not the way that we expected to start Season 11 for sure. I'm not sure where to start. Just to start with as you can probably figure the Pritchetts all live in the area too and may have more to personally worry about at this time. That being said the nesting season does not officially start until October 1st after which it is technically illegal to mess with the nesting tree so I'm not sure about cams as these would also have to be purchased at quite a great cost and would take time to put up.
The last time we had a hurricane we also lost some of the main branches but the nest, strangely enough, remained. The eagles can and will quickly build a new nest if they decide to use this tree and if they are both able to do so. I have not seen any photos of the second nest in the West pasture nor have I heard anything yet about Harriet or M15.
I'm like you---I really hope that Harriet and M15 had a great place to hunker down and stay safe. I'm hoping that we might be able to have reports from some of the locals about our eagles soon. As you may know we have moderators and many viewers in the area and we are anxious to hear something from all of them as well--we are concerned about them.
Thank you for asking and I wish that I had more answers for you.
MaryF
PS--if any of you see or hear any information --please post it here. Thanks!
