This is so sad watching Ron waiting for Rita to return.
From what the moderators say on chat there are very few eagles in this area so it could quite a while before a female shows up or Ron will have to leave to find one. :cry1:

Ron stayed until 10.50.28Am. Long time at the nest this morning. I am sure he so lost in what to think.

Didn't hear any news on Rita today

Good Night Rita and Ron :rh:

.. Here is the latest update on Rita that I found on FB a few minutes ago ----

Miami Dade Sad Update About Rita😔🙏
📷
Wildlife Rescue of Dade CountyThe bad news nobody wanted to hear. It is 99.99% certain that Rita will never fly again. I know previous messages have left everybody hoping for a miracle.
📷
Wildlife Rescue of Dade CountyThe chances for that miracle have diminished greatly. She is still alive and very angry. I will continue to try to make her fly.
📷
Wildlife Rescue of Dade CountyRon is on his own now and hopefully will meet up with another lady eagle.

With the sad news yesterday from Lloyd about Rita we can only pray with only the .01% that just maybe Lloyd can perform some miracle now working with Rita.

Update on Rita

Rita, the bald eagle, continues to be treated daily by the Animal Health Team at the Zoo Miami Hospital. Her appetite remains good and she has now branched out from fish and added small mammals to her diet. Her ongoing treatments, most of them daily, include laser therapy to stimulate healing, medications for pain management, fluids to keep her hydrated that include B complex vitamins, antibiotics to help against infection, medications for increasing and improving circulation, antifungal medications, infusion therapy and medication designed to help with tissue perfusion concentrated at the wound site, physical therapy and regular bandage changes combined with a variety of topical medications.
Though the wound site has shown some improvement in color along with reduced swelling, the very tip of the wing still looks as if it is very unlikely to totally heal. Though every indicator suggests that she will not be able to fly again, at least not well enough to be in the wild, the team is not giving up on her and she continues to receive the best possible care from a profoundly dedicated and committed Animal Health Team. Though she has already defied the odds by surviving this devastating injury, the next week or two will hopefully provide more definitive answers as to the ultimate fate of this majestic bird.
