No sign of Connie or Clive and don't expect to see them for a few days but the PTZ Cam is up and running now. From what I understand it is under the Osprey nest and it overlooks all of the bay so we can now see much more of the area and where Connie and Clive are when not on the nest.

Depending on how long the cams can remain on we will see the effects of Hurricane Ian when it arrives.

Well it is not a very good morning at all here.
National Hurricane Center said. At 7 a.m., the center of Ian was located 65 miles west-southwest of Naples. Ian is expected to turn into a Category 5.

The Cams stopped streaming at approximately 3.38.55Am. This picture shows no justice as to what is going on when it went down. The chat is still up. as of 9.15Am
I pray that all will be well for our Eagles and Osprey and all the other living creatures on the island. I hope those who could evacuate have and for those that could not that they will be unharmed. This is definitely a very emotional time for all.

.From the looks of what is left of Sanibel Island and the outer islands I suspect that this nest might be gone.
These are before and after hurricane Ian pictures of the area

Update: I was just able to confirm that the eagle nest tree is still standing. I was able to spot the top of the tree from helicopter footage of the area. If the camera panned down 1 inch, we could have seen if the nest was there.

Two Links
First link is to Window To Wildlife with a short video of the nest tree before the Cam went down. We know at this time the nest tree is still there.

Hurricane Ian Rips Through Captiva Eagle Nest & Cam
Second Link is footage done by a drone of Sanibel Island, FL showing the causeway destruction but in the first 10 seconds, if you watch the left side of the screen, you will see an eagle flying. It might not be our Connie or Clive or could be, but it gives us hope that they made it through this safely as well
