From Sharon Spampneto Bryant:
Sunday 03/26/23
B16 turns 64 days old today.
This is Part 1: (I got a little carried away with the happenings so far today). Good morning, Mum and B16. What a nice two wing/one leg stretch you have there, B16. You look like a gymnast on a balance beam doing a scale. B16 soaking in the morning, and finding morsels in the rails to eat.

It's too early to complain about not having a breakfast delivery yet, B16.
Mum delivered a load of fluff. The body language says what needs to be said.
Oh darn "that" branch. Mum departed soon after the relocation of the branch. She didn't put it in the best of places as the branch almost slapped her in the face as she prepared for departure.

A bit of wingers were done after Mum left,
and an impression of a cormorant.
B16 also worked on scattering the fluff,

and did a few crop drops.
B16 was tracking some action of what looked like smaller raptors chasing each other and reacted as they flew behind the nest.
Mum arrived with some mystery meat for breakfast. B16 was quick to take possession and start eating. Mum departed.

Fifteen minutes later Mum arrived with a bigger portion of mystery breakfast. I would guess it's roadkill or leftover prey from a coyote hunt.
It was Dad's turn to deliver a portion of mystery breakfast.
B16 enjoyed getting fed bits from both parents.

Mum continued to feed B16 as Dad prepared to fly out.
As B16 started wingersizing, Mum departed.
After Mum left, B16 found leftover mystery breakfast and ran to the right side rails to eat.

Re: Berry College 2022-2023 Nest Thread
B16 celebrating after a great morning meal.
B16 had just settled in for a nice rest, but Mum wasn't done bringing in hauls from the great cache of food she had found. B16 was quick to the delivery and did a great snatch and grab. The delivery spread all over, but B16 had found a nice sized piece. Mum would stay to eat and feed B16 for a short while, but B16 was determined to self-feed, so they both ate until it was all gone and Mum departed.
More breakfest celebrations.

Dad delivered a squirrel. You'd think B16 hadn't had anything to eat yet. However, this is a good thing and it's very good to see the aggression progressing.
Dad stayed to feed B16.
B16 did lose interest in the feeding for a while. But kept an eye on Dad as he was de-furring the tail.

As Dad was still working on the de-furring, B16 played a bit.
But Dad coaxed B16 into a few more bites.
B16 then became more interested in antics and nibbling Dad's tail as he continued to eat,

and doing flapping runs across the nest. Dad would move to the LB shortly after this. B16 stood near the left branch near Dad, until just before noon when Dad headed out.
Once Dad left, B16 did some wingers.
Showed off those primary flight feathers on his/her wings.

Then gave us another good view of them.
B16 spent a long time standing in the front of the nest watching any manner of things.
B16 backed up on the LB/rails to "go" and stayed up there a long time taking time to preen.

Re: Berry College 2022-2023 Nest Thread
It seemed preening turned into curiosity of either the grouping of alulas feathers and/or primary coverts.
This is B16's favorite place to stay on that LB. I just wish s/he was fully on it and not using the rails as a buttress. This time B16 backed onto the LB. Since the 23rd s/he has been jump-flapping to the same spot (facing the other direction of course). I'm not sure if Berry officially posts about branching, but it is many people's consensus that it is branching as the rails seem to have had little to do with the grasp B16 had in those cases. I'm sure I'll post a s'cap when B16 has a "clean" jump up to a branch.

B16 turned 64 days old today.
This is Part 2: from Sharon Spampneto Bryant We start part 2 with B16 feaking his/her beak, after having self-fed some of the squirrel (which I missed getting s'caps off before the cams reset). Mum arrived to the LB and would soon hop down to feed B16 some of the squirrel. As the feeding went on, Mum gave B16 a big piece. B16 trotted to the other side of the nest to eat it.

Mealtime was over and playtime had begun. B16 did sneak in a few more nibbles before Mum downed the pelt.
B16 and Mum spent mid-afternoon watching the surroundings.
Eventually, B16 had to "go" and moved to check to see if a new location would have a better view.
