It apparently wasn't better, so B16 checked out Mum,
then went back to the front rails.
B16 tried out another location...

but B16 ended up back where it all began...Mum had taken a few steps forward while B16 was wondering around checking out all the possible locations.
I don't know if they were having intermittent stare downs or gazing into each other's eyes. All joking aside, this has been a really lovely afternoon with Mum and B16. With no strong winds for aid in lifting off the nest or windsurfing the rails, B16 was quite serene this afternoon. But, s/he also stayed upright most of the day!
Time for a nice stretch.

B16 was dosing off.
Mum had moved when she spotted Dad approaching with dinner. That woke B16 up and s/he sprung into action when Dad landed. B16 grabbed the fish. B16 would spend a short time eating.
There was a few minutes of family time before Dad headed out.

After some time had passed and B16 finished playing in the back right rails, s/he decided it was time to eat. Mum snuck a beak underneath B16's to take the fish.
Something caught B16's attention after Mum took the fish away. S/he seemed transfixed.
B16 continued to play around while Mum ate.

And a nice high jump before heading over to Mum to be fed.
The left side of the Cam2 branch gives a magnified view. Mum's eyes are so pretty. Mum left after the feeding.
The size of that crop is something else!

Mum brought in a fish. B16 quickly grabbed it but only nibbled at the scales/fins/gills. 16 then looked up at Mum "hey are you going to open it?". Mum ignored B16 so 16 had a stretch instead.
Mum did some aerating and found a pinecone. She bit it until it flew from her mouth and tumbled across the nest. A few seconds later B16 ran to the pinecone to check it out.
B16 mad his/her way over to the fish and tried to stomp it open. S/he nibbled at the fish again, stared at it, looked at Mum...and then went back to the rails in front of the nest.

Oh, nice new spot you found to perch, B16!
B16 went over to Mum to try to coax her into unzipping the fish...
Mum wasn't having any of it and didn't give in. B16 returned to the other side of the nest again...

Mum went back to trying to catch flies.
Dad delivered a fish of his own, B16 was quick to get to it.
B16 stared at it,

then stared at Dad,
and nibbled on his tail feathers as he was about to head out. After Dad left, B16 went to the back "corner" to dig in the rails.
B16's wingspan is unreal.

Re: Berry College 2022-2023 Nest Thread
Dad flew in to the LB. B16 moved over to squee at him, so he started making his way down to the nest.
Dad tried to start to feeding B16, but Mum made her way over (while whistling) to take the fish from him.
As Mum began to feed B16, Dad made his way around to the back of the nest to eat the fish that Mum had brought in earlier. Once Mum was done feeding B16 she departed. Dad continued to eat his fish as B16 played around the nest. Dad made sure to check the nest for any stray morsels, and then hopped up to the LB to stay a while before departing.

10:45pm Nope, Mom isn’t on the nest or branches and it’s starting to rain. B16 will spend another family night alone. Goodnight B16; Stay safe B16, Mom and Da wherever you’re perched, probably close by.
Goodnight everyone…bonjour Philjo
