Hi Hanover Chatters! We're excited for the new nest views this season! There are two PTZ cameras to show a close up and wider view of the nest and surrounding trees. There is a 4k wide view cam to show the nest in it's entirely, angled slightly above the nest so no more sticks will impact the view! Bare with us as we work on fine-tuning all the new changes, but we're so excited to share in nature's beautiful yet unpredictable unfolding this year!

Re: Hanover Pa. Eagle cam 2021-2022
2021-2022 is the 8th season of this nest cam. This pair of bald eagles has made its home in Codorus State Park, just outside Hanover, in rural York County, Pennsylvania. They got their names through a contest where local people voted on names. Mom is Liberty and Dad is Freedom. They have been nesting in this tree for about 17 yrs now but there is not a lot of history on the nest before the camera was installed and started broadcasting in 2015. The nest is 75' up in an oak tree.

STATS FOR SEASON 9 2023
From JudyB: As of February 21, there was a new male being called Spot, and he may have had a new mate - and there may be other eagles around; no eggs yet, but there's still time. As of May 14, I'm still not sure what eagles are around, but am quite sure no one is using the nest with the cam at this point, and I haven't found any information as to whether the original eagles or a new pair or some combination are in the territory, though there are apparently also osprey around. I wish them all the best, wherever they are. As of September 9, I found a post that said that there apparently a nest takeover; it sounded as if Liberty disappeared first, and Freedom was back a few times, but he also hasn't been seen lately, and there was no indication yet if the nest would be used next year.
STATS FOR SEASON 10 2024
This post is getting very long - the new young pair named Duke and Duchess laid two eggs, one hatched but the chick did not survive. Please see the summary post here - viewtopic.php?f=44&t=595&start=1050#p769419

Re: Hanover Pa. Eagle cam 2021-2022
Watching the eagles is fun but sometimes it is hard to tell which one is which. Obviously the one that lays the egg is the female but after that it get hard to tell. Here are a few indicators to help you identify them. Even then it sometimes is hard. Females generally brood the eggs and eaglets over night. Our nest here is no different.
Dad or Freedom has a notch in his neck line, can be seen most of the time but not always. He also has a lighter colored bib area on his chest. His wing tips or the primaries are shorter then Mom's and when crossed on the back do not extend to the tail. The last two seasons he had a notch in the middle of his tail feathers and when on the nest his tail width is wider then moms Mom or Liberty is larger as most females are. Her neckline can look straight but it has a little rise in the middle an inverted U. Her wing tips almost touch the end of her tail and she doesn't always cross them. When she is on the nest her tail feathers compact thinner then dad's, sometimes she tucks her wing tips under the tail.
