Still enjoying nice fall weather with near-normal temperatures and dry conditions out there. We will see occasional high clouds as a series of storms march inland across the Pacific Northwest, digging further south Sunday leading to some weather for us by Monday. These low-pressure systems in the Gulf of Alaska are drawing in remnant moisture from a tropical cyclone in the western Pacific bringing together all the ingredients for an early-season AR event. Due to the subtropical influence, the snow level will stay up near 10,000 feet, even across the Sierra, before crashing down over the weekend as colder air arrives. As the trough digs further south and weakens, we should experience a pretty good window of wet weather on Monday with around a quarter to half-inch of rain possible. Cooler air will also arrive late Monday, which could bring a few snow showers to the area with only light accumulation, if at all. Slightly cooler over the weekend as daytime high reach the upper 50's to around 60-degrees, while overnight lows remain in the 30's, southwest winds gusting 10-20mph at times. Clouds and winds will increase further late Sunday with rain showers likely on Monday, snow level above 9,000 feet. This system will be backed by a strong upper-level jet, which should be drawn down to the surface in the form of gusty west winds to around 45mph. Clouds, winds, and showers will all be on the decrease Monday night as the storm passes south and east of our area, with fair and warmer weather returning midweek. Things are still in the development stages, so be prepared, start carrying tire chains, and check back often for regular updates!
