Moisture continues to increase across the region this afternoon with a few showers and thunderstorms firing up around the area. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the 70's, east to southeast winds 5-15 mph at times. Additional moisture will arrive tomorrow and Tuesday accompanied by an easterly wave, this could bring more widespread convection with showers and thunderstorms likely through Wednesday. Most of the activity will fire off late morning into the afternoon during peak daytime heating, but a few nocturnal storms are also possible. The increase in humidity will bring temperatures back down with highs in the 70's throughout the week, while overnight lows generally cool to the 50's. There will be a varying degree of moisture and instability later in the week, not sure exactly what that will bring us for thunderstorm chances, but they do remain in the forecast through next weekend. Thunderstorms are always capable of producing locally heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail. Seek shelter indoors if a thunderstorm approaches your area.

High pressure over the Four Corners will draw deeper monsoon moisture in from the east this week bringing an increased chance for showers and thunderstorms at times. Activity could be fairly widespread over the next few days, decreasing in coverage and intensity later in the week. Expect partly cloudy skies this morning becoming mostly cloudy by afternoon with showers & thunderstorms developing, a little cooler with highs in the mid to upper 70's, southeast winds to 10 mph. Due to the easterly winds aloft, there is some potential for a nocturnal storm tonight, especially if convection fires up over Arizona and spreads westward. Otherwise, expect widespread showers and storms again on Tuesday, potentially our most active day of the week. Some storms could produce very heavy rain with rates over 1 inch/per hour, along with strong gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail. Always head indoors if a thunderstorm approaches your area and watch out for isolated flash flooding. The flow will transition from southeasterly Wednesday to southerly by the end of the week. This will gradually squeeze monsoon moisture out of the picture, but the potential for at least some isolated afternoon storms may linger into the weekend. Temperatures will remain slightly below average throughout the week with highs in the 70's while overnight lows drop into the 50's.
