Looking at another gorgeous fall weekend upon us with slightly above normal temperatures and dry weather. Expect mostly sunny skies today with highs in the mid-50's, easterly winds around 5-10mph. Low pressure passing east tonight will set up another weak offshore flow Sunday into Monday which could generate gusty winds below passes and canyons as temperatures remain above average. Daytime highs will remain in the 50's while overnight lows drop into the 20's, northeast winds around 5-15mph at times. The persistent ridge that has dominated our weather through most of November and now December will weaken as an inside slider drops south along the Ca/Nv border Tuesday. This will increase the onshore flow and deepen up the marine layer enough for some drizzle down below. We'll experience cooler temperatures and gusty west winds, with even a few flurries or snow showers possible Monday night, accumulations if any will be light. A stronger winter storm is currently forecast to move into the area later in the week with widespread rain and snow likely throughout the state. This has the potential to bring our first significant snowfall of the season by Thursday and Friday and should be monitored if you have travel plans into the mountains. A lot of details still need to be ironed out.
