Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Monday, Oct 25 @ 04:29pm
*** FLASH FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT ***
Low pressure off the west coast is pushing a frontal boundary southward into southern California this afternoon with rain now widespread across the area as the plume of AR moisture arrives. Mostly cloudy skies for the remainder of the afternoon and evening with rain likely, cold and windy with temperatures cooling to the 40's. Strong southwest winds are also accompanying this storm with gusts over 40 mph at times. The snow level is currently sitting at about 10,000 feet and not expected to drop much until later this evening. As the cold front pushes through the area steadier rain with turn more showery in nature tonight. Colder air will also filter in which could bring the snow level down around 6,000 feet late tonight. Should any moisture linger, there is the potential for a few snow showers, but accumulations will remain light if at all, except above 9,000 feet where 6-12" of snow are possible. Total rainfall amounts of a quarter to three-quarters of an inch are likely, with localized amounts of 1-2" possible, especially on the lower coastal slopes where orographic enhancement should squeeze out all avail moisture, lesser amounts in the deserts. This whole system will exit the area by tomorrow bringing a return to fair and warmer weather for the remainder of the week. Temperatures should be back up near normal by the weekend with dry weather ahead.

October 26
Good morning everybody!
Happy Tuesday!
4:02 am Fiona runs up the left V branch Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Tuesday, Oct 26
Our powerful early season storm has exited the area, not before wringing out some very beneficial rainfall across the region. Nearly 2" of rain fell at the Dam to over an inch in Big Bear Lake, trailing downward to around half an inch towards the east end of the valley. Areas further to our west did amazingly well also with upwards of 2-3" across our Rim communities. Snowfall totals also did as expected with just a light dusting from 7,000-9,000 feet to several inches over 10,000ft. If traveling up or down the mountain this week watch for areas of rocks or debris down on the highway along with patchy areas of ice through this morning. Residual moisture will bring us partly cloudy skies today, continued cool and breezy with highs in the lower 50's, northerly winds around 5-15mph. High pressure will strengthen during the second half of the week pushin g daytime temperatures back into the 60's, while overnight lows drop into the upper 20's and 30's. Weak offshore gradients will generate light east to northeast winds around 5-10mph at times. High pressure will flatten out over the weekend as another Pacific trough deepens off the west coast. This will lead to some minor cooling, but no precipitation is in our forecast through early next as the action stays north of us, for now.
