9:14 pm It was a quiet night. No musical branches or trees.
9:29 pm Only weird thing was @12:37:30 there was a huge flash of light off the very right of screen. The sky was clear, so it wasn't lightening

Two different birds were bombarding Harriet this morning while she was in the nest eating the bird.
8:58am - The Loggerhead Shrike and Grackle were watching Harriet eating the bird in the nest from the Attic Branch.
The Loggerhead Shrike is at the left and the Grackle to the right.
8:58am - A closer look at the Grackle with it's light yellow eye/pale gold color.
(Crows have pure black eyes.)
Here... @9:03am...the Grackle was bombarding Harriet while she was busy eating the bird.

Hi Journi, thanks for bird links. Those two type birds teamed up the other evening, and were pestering Harriet. What ever their reason may be, I still can't believe that such small birds will go after a huge eagle. I guess they know Harriet won't eat them. But don't push it!

Re: SW Florida Eagle Cam 2021~2022
Lovinnature - One of these birds probably has their nest under the eagle nest (as we have seen small birds flying in and out from under the eagles nest) ...or their own nest territory are near to the nest tree/area...so they may be defending their own nest territories. "They typically do this in an effort to drive away potential predators from a breeding territory, a nest or young, or a nonbreeding home range."lovinnature wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 8:35 amHi Journi, thanks for bird links. (Crows in the nest tree territory, will (also) defend their territories by chasing, bombarding/“mobbing,” and riding on an eagle's back ....)
Some interesting information as to why small birds “mob" a large bird can be found:

Journi, thanks, I understand that. All parents will do that. It's instinct, to protect their young. It's just the small birds vs the large bird, that is so amazing. Mother Nature, strikes again. They all need to get along. No mobbing, because H & M are not going anywhere.

9:15am - Harriet was at the pond bank...
9:18am - Harriet walked up into the grass...and was "mobbed" by what looked like little Grackles that were flying up and around the Pond Oak tree and all around her.
9:21am - Harriet flew from that grassy area and headed towards the church side of the pasture area...maybe going towards the office area...? Pritchett/SWFEC
