Re: Berry College 2021-2022 Nest Thread
Since I s’caped most of the action today and it’s late, I’m just going to post Sharon’s summary without her s’caps.
B15 is 109 days old today.
Mum arrived with some fluff this morning (Pic 1). B15 was right behind her to claim it (Pic 2) and fussed about it being fluff until Mum left (Pic 3). B15 left shortly after, this was only about 5.5 minutes. There was another quick 3 minute visit by B15, calling for food and leaving (Pic 4, 5).
B15 arrived late morning (Pic 6) for a lie down (Pic 7) and playing with pinecones (Pic 8, 9). After spending a short time on the left branch (Pic 10), B15 departed (Pic 11).
Dad brought in a partial squirrel and B15 was quick to come in and grab it (Pic 12, 13). B15 made a ruckus until Dad left (Pic 14), then started eating. After the meal was done, B15 hung out at the nest for a while (Pic 15), then headed out (Pic 16).
It was mid-afternoon when B15 graced us with another short 6 minute visit (Pic 17, 18).
Late afternoon, B15 arrived on the nest tree, landing on a back branch, on the right side of the nest (Pic 19). S/he hopped to the left until s/he could gain entryway into the back of the nest (Pic 20). 15 jumped up to the left branch (Pic 21, 22) for a bit, then back down to the landing pad, adorned with a wonky feather (Pic 23). B15 took to the skies shortly afterward (Pic 24).
B15 came to the left branch squeeing up a storm, turned around quickly, starting to mantle. Mum had to abort her delivery attempt (Pic 25) and B15 flew after her (Pic 26). After circling, Mum came in the back side door (Pic 27) with B15 hot on her tail (Pic 28). B15 took possession of the meal (Pic 29) and squeed until Mum left. After finishing this small snack, B15 called for more food (Pic 30) then exited.
Mum came to the nest empty footed, B15 blasted in right behind her and grabbed Mum's foot (Pic 31). Mum flew out quickly and B15 started to play in the wind, grasping pinecones in his/her feet. B15 grabbed two pinecones and , intentionally or not, hovered out the nest, leaving at least one of the pinecones behind. As the rain moved in, the wind died down and none of our Berry family had returned to the nest as night fell.

a little birdie comes to visit the nest but flies off when Missy lands on LYB
B15 comes squeeing in over the LYB and Missy quickly hops to nest to avoid being knocked over by 15; then she fleaps back to LYB so B15 can't grab her feet
from AC
Missy on LYB, Missy flies off LYB
