Good Morning Missy, Dad, Bev, Judy, everyone.....bonjour Philjo. Thank you for your s'caps and obs.
Weather
Monday, December 6, 2021 8:08am
Missy is on the nest incubating; appears a little warm Ugh, there was a Cam reset at 7:06am so I missed Dad's arrival and viewing his egg this morning. Chat said Missy started calling him about 6:06am. He arrived at 7:09:49am. But with those times, I should be able to roll DVR back but it only goes to 8:00am; some chatters don't post as nest time so maybe the reset was 8:06am Chat said Missy flew up to LYB at 7:10:13am and off at 7:12:10am
No mention of when there was another exchange
8:13am
up, aerates, nudges egg, resumes incubation

Re: Berry College 2021-2022 Nest Thread
I wanted to post some great chat information from Jean Galloway on delayed incubation
Dec 6, 12:09 AM
Jean Galloway: Credit "elfruler.com" Bald Eagles’ eggs hatch successively in the order in which they were laid, called asynchronous hatching. The first chick to hatch will be larger and more developed than its sibling(s), which gives it an advantage in the competition for food in the nest.To help mitigate this disparity, the parents usually incubate the first egg intermittently until the second egg is laid, which slows the development of the embryos of the earlier eggs. (cont)
Dec 6, 12:11 AM
Jean Galloway: Credit "elfruler.com" This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as “delayed incubation,” but the parents usually do incubate most of the time, so it is actually the hatching that is delayed. A better description of the behavior might be “intermittent incubation.” Scientists use the term parental attentiveness in reference to the amount of time parents devote to incubating. (cont)
Dec 6, 12:12 AM
Jean Galloway: Credit "elfruler.com" Parents gradually increase their attentiveness until the clutch is complete.
Since later eggs are incubated more consistently than earlier eggs, their development progresses more quickly and they hatch in less time.

There have been 4 shift changes so far
Cam 2 is offline; BCE has been notified
I need to run out for a bit; I'll post the DVR s'caps when I get back unless someone wants to.
