Kenai Cam Nest Thread 2021

The sub-adult left at 5:36 after moving sticks around the nest.
To the consternation of two other eagles per their loud protestations, the SA returned at 8:19. It only stayed a minute.

It’s 9:00pm, very late here. As I was doing the stop and go review, I heard one or more vocals many times. Good night everybody!

Hi, Thank you for the detailed information. So, I am gathering none of the eagles is Aurora or can we not tell at this point? Have there been any ground reports from the property owners?

Hi Aigle! We have no confirmation from cam observations or ground reports that Aurora is in the area. There’s certainly a lot of activity. I would love to know if the owners recognize any of the calls as Aurora’s. If you listen for a long time, you are sometimes able to discern different eagles by their calls. I hope she’s safe, wherever she is. She had a very difficult year.

MONDAY April 12

Good morning Bev, Marianne, Androcat, Heather, LadyDeeagle, and Kenai. I hope everybody has a nice day. An eagle lands on the nest and a second one flies over it as the disputes continue. 9:18pm The flying eagle circled around twice and flew under the cam a total of three times in this encounter.

These are the two eagles involved. This is the first one to land in this instance

And this is the one that circled over and over until the first one left. This one has darker edged feathers.

Darker eagle returned at 9:33

Whiter eagle returned and darker eagle flew over it 9:48pm

Skipping ahead. After a couple of landings on the nest by various eagles, this eagle arrived at 11:54pm

Off shortly after midnight

Returned at 14 minutes past midnight all the while alerting and watchful

A few moments after that, a second eagle attacked, causing the first to jump backwards with talons out (left side)

At 5:58, an eagle arrived abruptly, perhaps after being chased, alerting and agitated

This eagle returned 6:10 alerting and upset

Off again at 6:17

Eagle lands while vocalizing 9:13. He left at minute later

TUESDAY April 13

Good morning Bev, Marianne, Androcat, Heather, LadyDeeagle55, and Kenai. I didn’t see any visits overnight. It’s 6:00am. I hope everybody has a safe day.

It’s 12:21 There’s nothing to report since my last post. During my stop and gos I only heard vocals at 12:15 and they were very very distant (I had the volume all the way up.) BBL
