It's interesting the way this nest is built between two huge parts of the tree

Hopefully we will be getting more information on this nest soon!

SURPRISE!!! Here is a video from Lady Hawk!

AEF Captiva Eagles ~ HATCH UNDERWAY! ๐Ÿ’• Egg Tooth & Movement Seen! Chirping Heard! ๐Ÿ’• 12.13.20

The hole is larger than the last time I looked --n scap from the video
CAP hole larger 12-13-20.jpg

From Lady Hawk

The chick is making progress and working hard at hatching! We see it's egg tooth working hard on breaking free of the shell with the egg moving around as the hatch is in progress. Chirping is heard from this little one as well. It won't be long before we will see our first bobblehead of the season emerge! Thank you for watching!

I have another video from Lady Hawk. She will be gone for a short time so we will have to enjoy this one!

AEF Captiva ~ Double The Cuteness! ๐Ÿ’• Pink Feet, Tumbles, Feedings & First Baby Bonk! 12.14.20

Number one---what a cutie! -- scap is from the video
CAP numbr 1 12-14-20.jpg

From Lady Hawk

The hatchlings are alert and are chirping away as Connie gives both chicks a feeding! Both are wobbly and #2 still had some eggshell stuck on its feathers (it did fall off). In the opening footage at 1:06, #1 takes a little tumble but does manage to get right back up. We see those adorable pink feet โ™ฅโ™ฅ #2 gets a feeding at 5:18 and at 11:20 we see #1 give a baby bonk to #2. They are very uncoordinated at this stage and have trouble holding their heads up for very long and eyesight is very poor. It will improve dramatically over the next several days. Thank you for watching!

I thought because they hatched so close in time, I thought they would not fight so much. It is much worse and at the very beginning. Mom gives up on trying to feed.

Another video of our new babies by Lady Hawk. Bonking already!! WOW--such strong little day old eaglets! Any attempt that I made to do a screen capture resulted in a blur so I will let the video speak for itself :D

AEF Captiva Eagles ~ Bobblehead Bonkfest!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š 12.15.20

From Lady Hawk

We sure do have some active eaglets with hatching only six hours apart yesterday! They are little rock um bop um hatchlings that just keep going at one another while Mom is trying to feed them. A bobblehead bonkfest for sure - but they are equally matched. They will be fun to watch!
