High pressure over the four corners region will bring an increasing east to southeasterly flow aloft this weekend drawing mid and upper-level monsoon moisture into our area. Expect a warm and humid start to the weekend with highs in the lower 80's today. Sufficient instability should fire off a few showers or isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon. An easterly wave will arrive tonight into Sunday, bringing a better low-level surge of moisture with even a nocturnal thundershower possible. Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with scattered showers and thunderstorms, cooler with highs in the upper 70's. Any thunderstorms that form will be capable of locally heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail; seek shelter indoors if a thunderstorm approaches over your area. Scattered mainly diurnally driven thunderstorms will continue through next week, varying in coverage and intensity from day to day. Moisture could decrease a little early in the week then increase again towards the end of the week. Temperatures will remain close to average as daytime highs hover around 80-degrees while overnight lows cool to the 50's. Drier weather should return next weekend as a trough deepens off the west coast, pushing monsoon moisture east of us.

6:00 am it is 54°F and not much wind 6:02 am 6:04 am Bensweather.com Forecast Updated:
An easterly wave will move westward through Southern California overnight and could spark a few showers or thunderstorms. Southeast winds around 5-15mph, gusty near any storms with lows in the 50's. This disturbance moving through overnight will also bring in a better surge of low-level moisture, down to 700mb for more instability and the potential for heavier rainfall in any thunderstorms. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies on Sunday with scattered showers and thunderstorms, cooler with highs in the 70's. Thunderstorms that develop will be capable of torrential rainfall, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail; seek shelter indoors if a thunderstorm approaches. Scattered showers and thundershowers will continue through next week, mainly during the afternoons, possibly enhanced at times by any easterly waves that move through. Temperatures will remain close to average through the period with daytime highs hovering around 80-degrees, while overnight lows generally cool to the 50's. Drier weather may return next weekend as a trough deepens off the west coast, gradually pushing monsoon moisture east of us.

Bensweather.com Forecast Updated: Sunday, Jul 18 @ 11:30pm
Had a great round of thunderstorms Sunday, especially across eastern portions of the Big Bear Valley where 1-2 inches of rain fell causing flooding issues and knocking out power to the area with multiple lightning snags. Forest Service is working on any small spot fires caused by lightning this week, we may see increased air activity at times, nothing major as heavy rain fell with storms.

Fawnskin Forecast:
Today: Mainly sunny to start, then a few afternoon clouds. High around 75F. Winds W at 5-10 mph.
Tonight: A clear sky. Low around 50F. Winds SW at 5-10 mph.
Bensweather.com Forecast Updated:
Activity has quieted down tonight with still an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible overnight as lows cool to the 50's. Expect partly cloudy skies headed into Monday becoming mostly cloudy by afternoon with another round of showers & thunderstorms possible. Cooler with highs in the 70's, winds light and variable, except gusty around any storms. Moisture fields may decrease a bit through midweek as the flow turns more southerly, increasing again by the end of the week as another deep surge of moisture arrives. Thundershowers will vary in coverage and intensity from day to day with everyone having a decent shot at picking up some measurable rainfall throughout the week. Thunderstorms are always capable of producing very heavy rain, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and hail; seek shelter indoors if a thunderstorm develops over your area. Temperatures will remain close to average through the week with daytime highs in the upper 70's to around 80-degrees, while overnight lows generally cool to the 50's, with little change through the weekend.
