Enjoying relatively nice weather out there, an offshore flow has drawn drift smoke into the region from wildfires burning in central California, there are no active fires in our area. Expect mostly sunny skies today with areas of haze, warmer temps as highs reach the mid-70's, east to northeast winds around 5-15mph at times. The offshore flow will turn more southerly Wednesday through the end of the week as low pressure off the coast draws up subtropical moisture. This will boost temps further with highs in the upper 70's, likely just short of 80 on Wednesday as fall officially begins. Enough moisture and instability could spark a few afternoon thundershowers beginning Thursday, possibly lingering into the weekend. Gradually cooler as daytime highs drop from the lower-70's later this week to the upper-60's over the weekend, while overnight lows drop into the 30's and 40's. So, it will still feel very summer-like over the next few days, but cooler fall weather will arrive this weekend! Longer range looks dry with a turn to much cooler fall weather and troughing along the west coast headed into October, models even hinting at the first snow of the season up near Mammoth!
