I did miss a fair amount of time but was not really expecting the first egg here so soon!
What a surprise when I got my power back to find a scap of E #1 ! Hopefully it will be OK there in it's tiny bed of leaves on the snow. I'm betting that it was quite hastily put together.
TA-DA! Here is egg #1. It's quite colorful and appears to have blood, and a lot of coloring from the leaves perhaps. It was laid on February 17 at about 5:52PM. AS big THANK YOU to Darlene Hawkins who captured this image while I was freezing with no electricity.

We are up to 3--yes 3 eggs in the nest now. They are very unusual looking. Each one is a different color--most likely dyed by the contents of the nest bowl although one does look like it has streaks of blood on it.
