* 4.36Pm H17 preening and calling for the Mom or Dad
Re: Duke Farms, NJ -- 2020/22
It is 5.39Pm and I have yet to see a food delivery since yesterday at 6.08Am. Parents not on the nest well, the eaglets do have to learn how to be on their own but no food deliveries worries me. H17 been using a lot of energy working on fledging the nest and like most eagles they do a P.S. before they go and H17 does the same each time he works out and the P.S. I am seeing now are very small to nothing.
There is still time for a delivery but it still is very upsetting.

Re: Duke Farms, NJ -- 2020/22
I appreciate your updates, it has been very hard watching Duke this season. I feel like things never returned to normal after 17 was banded. Prayers parents come soon and 17 has a successful fledge. This poor little guy has been alone so much that the thought of him getting out and exploring makes me happy.
Re: Duke Farms, NJ -- 2020/22
I agree with you that things never were the same after the banding of H17. Mom just got to spooked by it all and it changed the behavior on the nest. H17 is determine and will fledge shortly in my opinion. Thank You again for the kind words.Hammom wrote: ↑Wed May 11, 2022 3:58 pmI appreciate your updates, it has been very hard watching Duke this season. * 7.47Pm one of the parents make a delivery and dash and deliver a small fish to H17 (probably Dad) Best not to stick around with a hungry kid. The fish though small will give H17 some hydration which is good
* It doesn't take H17 long to feed himself and the fish gone

Re: Duke Farms, NJ -- 2020/22
Such a relief! I will sleep a little better knowing he had some food. Hoping tomorrow their will be many deliveries for 17!
Re: Duke Farms, NJ -- 2020/22
It has been a long day for H17 waiting on a food delivery but WOW did he ever work on those skills today. Hovering higher then he ever has and you can see he is contemplating on which way to go. Watch out Mom and Dad your kid soon will be able to get to you
Sleep Well Dad, Mom and H17.

* Given a choice H17 forgets the eel and goes for the fish 6.20Am
* H17 finishes the fish all by himself

* 7.08Am looks like one of the parents are on their way in
* It's Dad with another eel delivery. This time H17 does not push him off the nest
* Dad makes the delivery and leaves right away
* H17 at first does not try to feed but eventually gives it another try on the second eel
* H17 this time manages to self feed on it. Way to go H17. You make your Dad proud. LOL
* Finished feeding H17 moves to the right of the nest and perches for awhile 7.51Am
