5.41Pm The two eggs remaining
© 2023-2024 Wild StreamingRe: Port Tobacco MD Bald Eagle Cam - Seasons 2020 - 2024
This morning all eggs appeared fine but at 2.27 Pm today as Chandler got off the eggs one egg had broken. The appearance of the broken shows no sign of any eaglet suggesting it was not fertilized or the embryo passed very early with no development happening. It is a sad day for Port Tobacco. We pray now that the other two eggs will hatch.
Pip watch did start today with the first egg being 35 days old. Delayed incubation was done so a pip was not expected but now which egg is which now?

What started out this morning as a glorious day with a nice PIP hole in the egg has ended in sadness as the eaglet was unsuccessful in hatching. The footage takes you through the day from the initial Pip hole to the egg being partially crushed and the end footage of the eaglet not making it out of the egg.
There is one egg left now and let's all pray that this one will hatch.

Hi Ondabebe, just a few word to tell you that i share your sadness about this little almost eaglet, It was so close to be a real one like egg#2 was at SWFL but God had a different purpose for it... and we have to accept even if it is very hard for us...
I'm sure it is flying high and freely around everyone, (its nest, parents, future siblings, everybody in that too strong world), with always a full crop and will stay forever in our hearts where all these littel angels will find a warm place...

At 9.45Am Chandler flew off and Hope arrived shortly after. She went back to incubating only a few minutes before getting up at 9.47Am and removed the unhatched eaglet from the nest and flew off with it

Though lack of infrared lighting makes it impossible to tell, Chandler did his best to fuss-budget Hope out of her sleep & off the egg around 9 pm. From what little I could tell, the egg cup showed movement, so maybe we'll have a successful hatch visible in the AM. I've always loved this nest since H&C are so pros at managing food deliveries and feedings to minimize sibling rivalry, but even seeing one hatchling raised happy and confidently would be nice.
