2:46p - River and Obey are both feeding DH9. The pip in the right egg is moving along. You can see movement in the egg and the egg tooth working hard to get out :w00t:

I love the last picture, with both parents reaching out to feed the chick.

Congratulations, River and Obey - and thank you all for the great coverage here!

Hi, all After watching the video and seeing the photos and the feeding this morning, I think this bobble hatched earlier in the day, yesterday. S/he was very alert and hungry this AM. Much more than I would have expected of a less than 12 hour old. I know it doesn't matter, but I needed to offer that. One other thing I noticed was that in the squirrel video it sounded like River stepped on and crushed part of the egg shell. Just being OCD, as usual. :%: :bye 1:

i saw the picture of the feeding in your first pic yesterday, Stephanie, + a video from MsO.
Like wrote Jwin DH9 seemed to be more than only 8h00 old
Have a look here, the MsO's video 02-29-2020 during daylight and in fact around h00 at least before the real DH9's date of birthday.
We can see the main part of the eggshell so DH9 was almost totally out of it's shell a long time before 23h3?...

DH2020 Empty Shell (slo mo), 022920
Appears River tried to kick an empty shell out of the nest cup, but see no hatchling. Maybe soon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBMkw43RPcg

So you can see the large empty eggshell. i saw also that there was a squirrel in the nest at a time, for me it is just in front of Mom and at a moment when the egg shell fall down under Mom look well and we can see a movement of little DH9 under the quirrel… i hope i was clear. ;)

Goodnight/ Morning everyone, bonjour Stephanie, Jwin, Judy, …!

Good morning,
Very bad storms all around the nest last night. There were several tornadoes in middle TN with several deaths and tremendous damage. :( We are very lucky that the nest and the eagles are ok.

Hey jwin and Philjo :bye 1:

Jwin, yes very sad about the tornadoes...I know it is not looking good in some areas. Very thankful our eagles are still here!

10:25a - Both little ones are oh so feisty lol

10:58a - River brings in a fish. The pantry is very well stocked right now

No DH11 yet...so now I'm wondering if the pip was maybe just dirt :chin: Today is only day 35 so still plenty of time for a hatch.

One of the eaglets went over the side of the nest this morning at approximately 5:07. I did worry about that area of the nest. Closest to the camera.

304 858.jpg
304 900.jpg

Today was a sad, but joyous day. DH11 was our rainbow after the storm of losing DH9 this morning. We're going on our 4th season with River and Obey and my have we seen them persevere through some of the toughest situations. And just a friendly reminder how heartbreaking it can be to watch nests, especially this nest. We've seen loss in 3 of the 4 seasons. We've seen River and Obey fight with everything they have to defend their nest and territory. And we've seen them successfully fledge 3 eaglets. We are so fortunate to be able to see just this tiniest part of their lives.
