Thank you all for your posts today! I still have trouble telling the adults apart, especially when they are sleeping or perched, but it does seem that Mom is healing, and that the pair is successfully defending their territory. A chick or two would have been nice, but in the grand scheme of things, this is more important.

Good night, everyone.

I took a screen shot of the eagle on the nest today. It does seem like they may have some injuries to the face. I am not sure if its the female or the male. I am thinking female. I hope she heals soon

I did notice the difference in the female eagle especially when the two adults were on the nest together.

I just watched the female get up and move to the edge of the and then back to bowl and continue incubating. I did not notice any noticeable limited movement. I hope for the best. I have not seen the male roost on the limb in view in quite some time now.

First, thank you all for your updates.
It is difficult to see nature first hand, especially when you have become fond of a family of eagles.
I think :dunno: that Dad has been incubating at night and Mom is off healing. Her head was injured. But the cam is not very cooperative when you try to ID an individual. There are some very good pictures on the cam page of the attack on the nest.
There seem to be more intruder incursions this year. I wish there was more habitat for these eagles.

Thanks for coming here and sharing your thoughts, jwin - and I've also been wondering about that. I agree that it is hard to ID the adults unless they're together, and I've been thinking the adult on night duty seems relatively small in the nest, which suggested Dad to me. I'll try to keep an eye on the nest today in the hopes of seeing them together.

We had a visitor at the nest around 9:02-9:03 am - a bird with a red head that reminded me of a woodpecker; please ignore the lighter image of the bird perched at the back of the nest - it's a pixelated ghost image of the same bird where it had been a moment earlier.
20200214_004.jpg

The bird flew back and forth and perched several places near the nest.
20200214_005.jpg

Then it approached the egg, and may have pecked at it.
20200214_006.jpg

And almost immediately it flew to the edge of the nest, and then up into the V on the left, where it perched for a few seconds before flying off.
20200214_007.jpg

I thought it may have left the nest bowl because it saw an adult coming, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

It's now 9:26 am, and I haven't seen any activity.

Now we have a squirrel visiting the nest; it's on the back edge, and blends in quite nicely.
20200214_009.jpg

At least I think it's a squirrel - more brown than I'm used to seeing in Maine or on the BC cams.
20200214_010.jpg

9:43 am
It's hard to judge perspective, but the squirrel looks bigger than the bird with the red head.

The red-headed bird was back at 10:34 am. It seemed more interested in the tree than in the egg, and again perched in a couple of places and flew off.
20200214_015.jpg

It's now 10:47 am, and I've been away from the computer briefly a couple of times, but have not seen any visits.

Thanks, Old Bear!

Well, I tried recording the nest while I was away for lunch - and I caught these two images of a fly-by.
20200214_016.jpg
20200214_017.jpg

The adult was not visible in the previous frame - and the cam froze on the second image.

It's streaming again now, and I'll continue watching and trying to record when I step away.
