It’s 7:02. Denali is on the nest. I don’t see Aurora in the attic. All is well. Good night Bev, Androcat, Marianne, JudyB, and all who love and follow Aurora and Denali.

23:44:11 Aurora takes a backbone from a fish carcass from the pantry area. She has it in her beak, and will take it with her when she leaves. This appears to be her habit, removing bones (scraps). She may just be keeping the nest clear of anything that may attract unwanted visitors.

Aurora spent her evening resting wth her head tucked back. She took off at 3:54

It’s 5:30. Denali is on the nest. I cannot see Aurora in the attic though I’m sure she’s nearby. Have a wonderful day everyone! BBL

Aurora left at 08:50 this morning after delivering nesting material. She has not been seen on the cam view since that time. Our view is very limited here, so she may be close by and we just do not see her. She was dealing with an intruder yesterday, based on observed behaviors.

This is a longer time than we have gone without seeing her on the cam, and we need to remember it is just that. Let’s hope we see her soon.

After I get this posted, I will edit it to include yesterday’s feeding times. Denali has been seen today doing crop drops, reading through chat. Thank you to those who noted that.

Edited to include feedings from 7-1-2020:

07:40:13 Aurora fed Denali from a fish carcass (backbone) that she picked clean, and also fed from a pantry item, I believe it was nestling bird prey, based on the small feathers from defeathering. Most of this feeding appeared to be from the bird prey and was a good feeding.

09:21:52 Denali, alone on the nest, nibbled food droppings in the pantry area. There is no way I can know what they actually got here, but it didn’t appear to be much.

09:25:23 Aurora brought in a fish carcass and fed Denali some bites from it, but this was not a full feeding at all. Aurora was probably followed to the nest, ate some for herself very fast, and was distracted by what she saw around the nest, out of our view. We watched her behavior, which indicated an intruder, and she launched upwards off the nest in apparent defense. That feeding ended.

09:48:39 Aurora and Denali both ate, not much, off the fish carcass. She again ended the feeding after being distracted at what she could see, out of our view. There was watching, vocalizing, and defensive wing postures at what she could see. She ended up leaving the nest. She returned, then took the carcass off the nest at 13:55:58, returning with what appeared to be the same carcass.

14:40:36 Aurora gave Denali a good feeding from the fish carcass. Denali turned away, apparently full, ending the feeding.

The is from today I asked her about Mom yesterday

Yes ! I saw her quite a lot yesterday. Today I saw her flying with another eagle out over the river. She hasn't been on the nest much and I'm guessing out hunting.. She has access to so much food but not having Redoubt around has definitely made things more challenging. I wish I could tell what the relationship is with this other eagle.
