THE BALD EAGLES OF REDWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL This nest history was compiled by Cindy Dufala and was posed here with her permission. THANK YOU CINDY!!!
In November of 2014
a pair of Bald Eagles started building a
nest in a tree at the back parking lot of the
school. The playground that was right
under it, was closed down and temporary
fencing was put up, to keep people out of
the nest area.
----------
The students voted and chose to name
their Eagles,
Stars (Female) & Stripes (Male)
----------
March of 2015,
eggs were laid and in April,
2 eggs hatched.
----------
In May, the students voted
to name the Eaglets.
Hope - They hoped that the Eagles
would return
----------
Pride - They are proud to have the
Eagles at their school
----------
June and July,
the Eaglets branched and then fledged
-----------
They were in the area until mid August.
September 15th,
----------
the webcam was installed by
Lescher Tree Care.

********************
Stars & Stripes stayed in the area over the
winter, being seen coming back to the
nest most days. They have continued to
do this over the last few seasons.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Late February & early March of 2016,
3 eggs were laid and hatched at the
beginning of April. Only two survived.
The students chose the names for the
two surviving Eaglets.
Liberty and Justice.
Representing the pledge the students/staff
recite each day at the start of school
In June, both Eaglets
branched and fledged.
Both stayed in the area until
late August.
----------
Late February & early March of 2017,
three eggs were laid. Only two hatched at
the beginning of April.
The students named the two Eaglets
Maroon & Gold,
to honor the Avon Lake City Schools
colors.
June & July brought branching and
fledging.
These Eaglets were very entertaining and
they were a joy to watch!
Both Eaglets left at the end of August.

Late February & early March of 2018
brought us 3 eggs again.
All 3 hatched in early April.
In May, the students voted to name the
Eaglets,
Red, White & Blue!
In late June, all three Eaglets
branched and fledged.
Consistently seen until August 19th.
Though they were seen periodically,
even into September

Happy to see lots of food on the nest - looks as if all three are doing well.
Also from the dvr - they almost all fit under her!
