Re: Big Bear CA 2018-2019
Good morning to all of you who so tirelessly make the scaps and report of the happenings at this nest.
I have a puzzling (to me) question in regard to banding. I remember when it was done at Catalina Island nests the females got the colored band on their left legs and the males on their right. It follows, that I thought it would be the same for all the nests Dr. Sharpe? has under his control. Hence, also the BB nest. But everyone calls Simba and Cookie a "HE" despite that the colored bands are on the left leg which denoted to me females.
I watched the banding video three times just listening what was spoken and heard "boys ".
Anyone knows what the criteria is in banding left or right?
Thanks...Tina

Tina, both Simba and Cookie were boys. I don't know the criteria in banding left or right.

Hi Tina, I think I remember someone saying this season that Dr. Sharpe cracked a funny and commented that women are always right so females are banded on the right and males on the left.
